What's up with the nic lately !?! I dumped 2 liters of crystal clear 100 mg. Smelled like rubber, and tasted like gasoline !

That's a sad waste Jimi - sorry to hear that :(

I recently mixed a dozen little bottles with RTS (different X lot that Judgement Affirmed sent me) that's been in the freezer for months. Crystal clear, typical odor, and a pretty darn clean taste. While when I last wrote about nic's I was around 20mg (and testing @ 30mg), I'm now mixing at 12mg.

I had some WL (regular, 100mg) at room temp for many months... turned quite "apple juice" colored. Still tasted good - at least in tobacco juices, but really not the best flavor for fruits, etc. after sitting around that long.

Still, I miss WL Ice.

Dang that's a lot of wasted nic.

I don't know if that's better or worse than fish oil. I got a small bottle from a vendor earlier this year that had that fishy thing going on.

On a different note
The mfs nic I got from the new process is clean, however its Not what I wanted from them. I was always at 12mg, with this im up to a supposed 18mg +

Jimi,

That's terrible!

It's especially worrisome to me, since I have a similar one-liter white plastic bottle of unopened RTSVapes 100mg/ml liquid nic stored in my freezer. Mine's from June 2013 rather than October, and 100% VG rather than PG, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that I'm not sitting on an entire liter of the same swill to make up half my long-term stash.

The liquid nic I'm currently using day-to-day---a one-liter jug of HeartlandVapes 100mg/ml 50/50 PG/VG that I'm halfway through and keep in the fridge, and from which I refill my 30ml working bottle---has changed color a bit over six months from nearly crystal clear to an ever-so-slightly pale yellow transparency, but it still smells/tastes very clean. This jug from Heartland continues to be as good as any liquid nic I've ever used. Even though Heartland's prices for one liter of 100mg/ml in PG, VG, or 50/50 have gone up from $75 to $100 shipped, it's still one of the best deals going (and their price for four liters hasn't risen; it's still $250, which is less than half of what some vendors charge for only two liters).

I hate the thought of thawing out and cracking open the RTS and MFS bottles in my freezer just to test if they're OK or not, but these horror stories about lousy nic from major vendors are scaring the bejeezus out of me. If I'm going to get an unpleasant surprise, I'd rather it be now than later.

and how pray tell did you get that Jimi? LOL Thought you had crossed that bridge long ago.

I have had no issues with the large amounts of Wizard Ice I bought earlier this year. I've taken to just keeping the bottles in the freezer period even the bottle I currently use. I just take it out and put it back in each time I mix. Not sure how much of a difference it makes but I am sure the aging is delayed some even with the repeated exposure to oxygen. I do not leave the nic out anymore at all.

One Stop DIY Shop. After all the crap nic samples I got a long while back, this was the only place that gave me consistently great nic until I started using WL.
Thanks man. It's good to know. My newest batch from WL tastes great. I just hope that this weird nic is just lower grades of nic, and not a processing problem.

So first of all there's nothing negative to say about MFS for me, they've always conducted themselves professionally and courteously by me. When I had issues with the batch I got in late October, even though I hadn't even tested it until weeks later because of things I read on the forums, they fired over a replacement from a new batch with no questions asked. It doesn't get better than that.

The new batch: It was much closer to clear than the previous liter I had received, but not the crystal clear I'm accustomed to a new bottle of nicotine presenting is. No biggie, color is the least of my concerns.

I could still pick up that burnt rubber nose the instant I uncapped the bottle however. After all the time I've spent with the nicotines in this thread trying to get into the subtleties they all offer, this smell is something quite novel, so there is no mistaking it for me. I mixed some down to 12 mg, and have been vaping it side by side with the 12 mg mix from the previous 'bad' batch, and a 12 mg dilution of my old MFS from 2011.

The 'off' burnt rubber smell and taste is decreased on the new batch a bit, but its still there. This stuff doesn't vape harsh mind you, but that smell and taste is stubborn and persistent. I've already PMed dustin and the way I put it to him is, the 'bad' batch is something I would only vape as a last resort, and this new batch is something I would only use as a second to last resort.

As you all know I like the smell and taste of nicotine, or what I've come to think of the smell and taste of nicotine based on my time vaping unflavored, and using snus (I realize the latter is different but you get my point). When I do use flavors tobacco is the dominant note almost invariably, and I appreciate the hearty kick that you get from a nicotine like MFS or WLR. This odor/taste is something unique to me, and I don't like it.

I will say this isn't the most offended I've ever been by a nic, but its the uniqueness of the off taste/smell that gets me. In the former cases it was more like wow this is really rank nicotine. This is more like there's something else, something out of left field, irking me in the mix. I have no doubt that the nic is incredibly pure, but what I'm getting from my nose and palate makes me nervous against better judgement.

Considering Jimi's recent RTS experience in light of mine and what Dustin has told us about the "stems and dust" nicotine we're all used to vs. whole leaf extraction…are the good old days of nicotine gone, at least for those of us who are tuned in and a bit obsessive about that 'flavor' ? If all that's left out there is this new 'whole leaf' extracted nicotine it may very well be the case.

I've been ordering my nic from MFS, how does WL compare...

I need to order more nic and now I'm really confused

Sadly I'm confused too Blueser. I used to find them more or less equivalent (MFS and WLR) but it seems things are changing. The wizard nic I have in my freezer is from an older batch so I can't really comment on what they have now.
