I paid $25 for a liter of TH, the least I have ever paid, and it is some of the nicest nick I have used. A whole lot of people think expensive=better. Well, sometimes yes and sometimes no. It just seems to make some people feel better to pay more, whether they are getting better quality or not.

It also comes down to a matter of personal taste. I purchased mainly MFS and wanted to hedge my bets so to speak with long term storage so I also tried NN and VT Premium, IMHO much cleaner nics, and for my taste VT premium is miles above the other two, but... I do not like a lot of throat hit (I use high PG so I get plenty of that without nic hit) or a peppery taste because I use just a hint of flavoring and just do not find that taste appealing with fruit/candy/dessert flavors. I will say though the only nic I had go "bad" on me was cheap nic and by bad I mean nasty smelling muddy dark brown yuck after a few years in the freezer.

That's what makes DIY so awesome. You have full control of every little nuance. I vape 6mg/single coil/1.4ohm/60vg/40pg in a Kayfun. I like throat hit and it's perfect with the nic I use. I can deal with 4mg but anything below that is too light. Just doesn't have enough sensation.

OTOH- when I bought a subtank the 6mg almost killed me. lol. I harshed out like when I was a teenager in a friend's basement listening to Pink Floyd. lol. I can't do big airy low ohm pulls. It just doesn't work for me. If I did, super clean nic would be a must. I get it. Not saying that you do big sub ohm lung hits. Just making a general point.

FWIW I am a diehard tootle MTL, 10-11 watts, 1.0-3.0 ohms, 3mg nic :) and I had to drop to 3mg from 6mg after switching from vivi novas - carto level to nautilus - ego one type tanks

... I have just found out that the VG I usually use to make quick taste-testing small batches, which is a year old and I wanted to get rid of it, is gotten really bad tasting.

I noticed it because I made a regular batch for normal vaping at 3mg with nicobrand nic and as i'd almost run out of other VG, then I used the VG I previously used for most testings and I couldn't vape it afterwards and dumped it because of it's bad taste!

I got two other fresh VGs delivered and made a 5mg chemnovatic nic test with some of it and it tastes very nice, so i'm sure the nicselect is the same and i'm testing that soon too.

In short, i'm so sorry for posting BS which wasen't correct and I feel so stupid for this lame mistake!

The VG that gotten bad is from a local manufacturer in my country and where i've previously have also gotten a fresh batch I had to ditch because it had a taste of bacon, even though 100% vegetal and pharma-grade(supposedly EP 7.0 tested).

Later batches where fine, but one of the batches I just got from there again had the same bacon taste and i'd had to ditch it all again!

I liked having a local manufacturer to buy from, directly from the source without middle-men, but this is the final straw making me ditch this supplier for good!

Normally VG can get a sour taste when getting bad, which this also had a little, but it also had a very unpleasant alkaline bitter taste, which I never had before(not the bacon taste of other bad batches though), but it's also been through a pretty warm summer though...

Sorry again!

:)

Really? I love NN--so clean tasting. Maybe I should give VT nic another try. Hmm...
Based on last summer's blind test, I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. Personally, I've stuck with NN primarily because they offer it "freezer-ready" (Armor V1).

It's interesting how different each of our palates and preferences are about nic, as that test showed. After that comparison I still found my 2013 WL Ice as my favorite, but all the samples other than the ECX (I don't like throat hit) were acceptable. I gave RTS a try as my stock dwindled, and found it to be pretty comparable in my mixes to Ice and ended up getting a few liters at sale prices. That comparison let me know that my palate is just educated enough for me to be aware of differences and that a number of nics are perfectly fine for my taste. Dropping the nic level slowly going forward should make it even smoother!

I've ordered from a new supplier to try (as if I need any more nic )

ChemNic.com Their pricing looks good - 45/liter, 150/gallon and it's gotten really good reviews on uh... another forum ;) It should be delivered tomorrow, so I'll update after I break it down into glass and test some out.

Has anyone here tried them yet?

I ordered a liter of Chem nic after finding the sample excellent. The liter arrived today, and it is heavily oxidized, unlike the sample.

Sorry to hear that AmandaD ... I would contact them, maybe they will make things right.

Speaking of... i used the rest of the xtr to male a small batch of juice as i ran out of nic select..

I got the dirtiest wick ive seen in years, that stuff turned almost black when heated. The xtr had been sitting on the shelf for the last year. When i ran some juice with other nics the rayon cleared up.

None of the others from the test did this. I tried all of them at a year old. Nude nic (C) probably held the best. (A) was good and (B) followed, (D) failed.

Just a quick question! I am planning on buying some nic base and am trying to decide between a liter of base that is already at 12 mg or should I maybe go the 50 mg and mix it with extra of and vg.
I see most people buying the 100 mg and wondering if that is safe for a first time diy person!

So when you buy a liter you need to re bottle all of it for long term storage? Or could I buy five liters and take one liter, bottle it in amber bottles and do another liter at a later date?
I guess my real question is can the liter bottles that come from the company go directly into the freezer until I put them in amber bottles?
