Although abbreviated, I like that coa, it shows complete testing lab info. When looking at that coa I have no doubts about the authenticity.

Plus, it's samples of the end product.
and even though not shown, you can bet it was tested for DEG
(after all the FDA hassles they went through)

I don't know man, but I find it impressive as well

If COA is step one, I'd have to say Box Elder is at the lead on this race

I certainly think so.

I'd pay an extra $5/10 (but no more!) too.

Also, it seems Boxed Elders' present solution for the various mixes/levels is to offer just two: 100mg PG and 100mg VG. At their entry price point ($100), they're back off the table for me anyway.

It can't be that much of a pain to do once every year or so if it can be assumed that the PG COA having both an effective and supercedes date defines how often they get a lot of PG. I'm assuming they manufacture/obtain a bulk lot that lasts them ~15 months from supercedes to effective and then they will have a new COA. So, yeah, maybe "old" but only just overdue for the next one, no?

Another question: would the effective date be the start date for the shelf-life of two years?

I don't think the "Propylene Glycol USP Kosher Chemical Analysis" posted by RTS is a COA. At the top of the sheet it says "Sales Specification". It doesn't look to me that it contains any analysis data.

A company like DOW probably has their process under tight control. Running periodic in process checks they can set a set of parameters and meet or exceed what they advertise. 100,000 pounds, and a couple tests are a drop in the bucket.
One neat trick with aging PG is to "re-certify" it.

Yup, still good, sell some more :)

One thing to watch for in a COA for Glycerin is a specific test for DEG.
I think the requirement has been placed in the USP monograph.

Here are a few I found on the web that have both the specification and the test results, including a quantification for DEG.
I'm not implying any of these are any good.

"GLYCERINE VEGETABLE NATURAL SOURCE - PALM DERIVED - Certificate of Analysis Sheet ( COAS ) "

Has anyone heard about
Vi-Jon, Inc in St. Louis, Mo.?
They sell Glycerin. any comments?

Looks like Vi-Jon and Cumberland Swan Holdings joined when they got a bail out
from Berkshire Partners, one of those 'Private Equity' firms.
Swan Glycerin is a trade mark of Vi-Jon. It is manufactured, or refined, or maybe just stored and bottled at either the St. Louis, Mo. or Smyrna, Tn plant.
You can find it in some stores like Target, CVS, Walmart, and maybe some e-juice vendors.
They have an MSDS posted on line, but I could not find a COA or reference to a Kosher certification. It is good stuff because they also make chemical formulations for other major consumer product companies.

This isn't really all that 'Off-Topic' as PG and VG are in our Nic bases.

Haven't had any of those sorry to say

off topic? Compared to most threads we sound like single minded drones :)

I'm in the market for a new jug of VG I've been wanting to try proctor and gamble. Only source I'm aware of is ECX. Any other suggestions?

Chemicals direct (not the cheapest) sells gallons. They have posted their COA and Kosher certification (OU is sort of acceptable). Glycerin manufacturing plants have been going though a bunch of "contract agreements" with the big companies making 'source agreements' for raw stock.

Essential depot has a better price but the contract between Dow and ADM makes it hard to determine which one actually produces the VG.

I have used both and could not tell the difference. But it seems I don't have functioning taste buds :)

One thing I found was small, re-packaged bottles end up with a lower density (mg/ml) than large bottles (gallon) probably due to atmospheric water absorbed during vendor storage and bottling. Not a problem because I check my DIY thickness with the Dr. Kavorky and compensate when thinning.

A little off topic, but if anyone is need of VG or PG Essential Depot has both on sale this week. 2 gallons for appx $48 shipped. Price varies a buck or 2 depending on whether you order VG or PG or 1 gal of each. They also have coa posted for each product on their site.

Since I don't have functioning taste buds either, I ordered a gallon of each. If it's it good enough for Rocketman should be good enough for me.
