So, does everybody feel a difference with vaping vrs when smoking cigarettes? Like do you feel any different? Since I quit , and have told people I don't smoke cigarettes anymore they say well your still getting nicotine. I try explaining to them that nicotine isn't going to nessacarilly kill you unless you drink a bottle of juice or get a lot on your skin. Then they say oh well nicotine causes heart attacks, strokes. Even though i believe it doesn't and it is the mixture of all of the other things in cigarettes. What is everybody's opinion on this and what do you think? The real question is , do you think nicotine causes helath affects long term from a vape? FYI I'm on 3 mg of nic

My lungs feel better. I don't hack up phlegm every day like I used to. I get the same focusing effect from the nicotine that I used to get from smoking, but it doesn't feel like I'm hurting myself every time to get it. I think my blood pressure has gone up a little, because I think I'm taking in more nicotine daily now than I was when I was smoking because I had consciously tried to cut down my smoking before I made the switch, and I don't feel the need to restrict my vaping at this point.

ETA: I can bring my BP down by refraining from vaping, I've done this when I need to, like when I donate blood.

If you are getting those kind of "oh well nicotine causes heart attacks, strokes" responses just ask them: Who says that? See what kind of response you get. "Everyone knows..." doesn't count.
Yeah, basically. Get them to give specifics and then grind their uninformed notions into dust before their very eyes.

I'm kidding.
But yes, ask them how they think they know these things, and give them better info if you have it. These conversations are largely fruitless because the other person isn't open to having their opinion changed, but you may get lucky.

Just tell them that the Royal College of Physicians stated that it's no more harmful than caffeine. That since they've only been around since 1518 you'll take their word on it.

I've only been vaping exclusively for almost a month now and I find that I am able to breathe a little deeper but I do still cough up gunk at various times of the day but the smoker's morning cough is gone. Another thing I'm experiencing is those wonderful "quit zits" - I'm almost 50, FFS and here I have acne! <sigh> This too shall pass. As for what to tell people: I just say I don't smoke cigarettes anymore, the vaping is a safer alternative to mimic smoking for me and I still get the nicotine I need. Most people (who are smokers) have questions, are interested in trying and are encouraging. In fact, some life-long non-smoker friends have been very encouraging as well. I LOVE vaping over smoking: the smell, generally feeling better and the cost savings. I figure even with juice, replacement coils and the odd new piece of hardware, I'll be $250-300 a month to the good.

Nicotine has been studied for a long long time, so long that nobody feels the need to do any more studies about it. Non smokers don't celebrate when we stop smoking. We used to pay a lot of taxes so they could pay less. We'll tend to be more competitive at work. Who wants more competition at work? Now we're saving a good bit of money to spend on keeping up with the Jonses. Are the Joneses going to be happy about that? The reaction of my co workers realizing I'd quit smoking was subtle and interesting. They weren't all deliriously happy for me. Then they see I'm able to vape on the shop floor which bothers no one but they still aren't sure how they feel about it. Hey, they sip coffee and listen to music. How about let me vape.

My doc had to drop my dose of BP meds within 6 months of my switch to vaping. And I've dropped from 18mg in 2013 to 5mg now.

I have a genetic high BP problem. It was going to happen no matter what. Smoking sped it up and vaping slowed it down. If it was "just nic" causing it then my anecdotal evidence defies that.

I started vaping to quit smoking and with the intent to quit vaping eventually. I did a lot of reading about nicotine and its effects. My takeaway was this... nicotine, in and of itself, IS NOT addictive. Nicotine IS being researched as a treatment for Alzheimer's and as an aide to improve cognitive function. Nicotine IS NOT, in and of itself, any more dangerous than caffeine. Nicotine DOES make me easier to be around (that was from observations made by my wife  )

Bottom line, I do not intend to quit vaping and after getting as low as 6 mg/ml nic, I bumped it back up to 15 mg/ml where I have been for the last 4 years.

Well, I'm still using 12mg, and sub ohming, so I think I'm getting a relatively large amount of nic compared to my 7-10 cigs a day when I last smoked.

Just think of it as evidence to support the hypothesis that vaping actually reverses the aging process ;)

Do you check your BP often ? I have to. First thing in the AM 3 times during the day and right before bed. I chain vape at night and my BP is perfect. During a workday it spikes sometimes into the bad zone. Mornings are always good. My doc says to only worry if the average is bad. Spikes are normal but baseline high is higher risk. I hate seeing a 160/100+ reading but they are fleeting.

My spikes during the day seem to be stress related because I can chain vape at night and log a 120/70. It's unnerving being on meds at 47 but thankfully my dose is really low so plenty of wiggle room in the future. Pre-meds I was 160/100+ all day every day. I'm active eat solid, and barely overweight. Bad genes I suppose.

I am almost in the same boat as you two, I use 20mg/ml after trying to go down to 12mg/ml. It just made me vape too much. Now at my present level, I can get work done with out vaping all the time.
I do not worry much about the nic and like the Statement about the Royal College of Physicians. My hubby has used 2mg nic gum for over 10 years, with no ill effects. He is healthy and in good shape.

Mine was 128 over like 80 something when i was smoking analogs. Now that I vape 118 over 76 and I still feel like thst is high for a 20 year old. Kind of freaked me out a bit last time I was at the doctor though cause it was 131 over 86 but they said that was cause I was taking Sudafed and sinus medicine
