I went to the local shop today to grab some flavors and show off my first badass subohm build. When I started asking for some bottles in 24mg they looked at me like I was insane. "your vaping 24 on that build in a mech" they asked. Turns out half the flavs I wanted werent even bottled in 24mg, they said I was the only one who asked for it at that strength. I explained I tried 18mg but was vaping like a chimney, 25-30 back to back full lung hits just to get the satisfaction I'm used to getting from 1-1.5 packs of Newport shorts a day for a little over 20 years. I've only been off ciggs for a month now and they said it could be that and that I will likely come down in nic soon. But I cant imagine how, I wrapped a subohm coil not because I cloud chase, I could care less about how much vapor people see come out of my mouth. I thought going subohm would finally get me to a point where I could say "OK, now I get why all these guys vape 3-6mg nic, but really even at 24 with 5-10 deep lung hits I'm still feeling like I'm just to the point of satisfaction. Is it normal for ppl just off ciggs to feel this way, granted newports are strong as hell and boy did I puff them like a champ? And how does the transition usually go, I thought switching to a mech with a subohm dual coil in a dripper would be the reason to make me want less nicotine but I dont see that happenening. Are there any ppl on here that have been vaping for years that still use high nic? Can you relate to this, is this normal?

I vaped 36mg for about 4 years in cartos and clearos. Yea, I was always a nic hound and smoked every cig to the .... for 27 years before vaping. When I first built a good coil at .8 ohms, I still only had 36mg on the shelf and used it in the RDA. Man, did I make myself sick for a couple minutes! Needless to say, I dropped to 12 at first, but was a vaping chimney 24/7! I have raised it to around 18 and find that I still vape A LOT, but can go without for awhile if needed because I wasn't jonesing for a fix. However, I have a job and home that allow me to vape whenever I want. If I had to limit vaping to two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch break, I would definitely raise my nic level to accommodate the long periods in between. So yea, I guess you're normal, or we're both freaks! But strangely, I'm OK with it either way. I don't vape to make others happy, I vape to keep me from going off the deep end with out cigarettes! It's worked for about 5-6 years now, so I must be doing something right for myself!

I wrote the following in a different post earlier today and it's just getting to late to edit it down so please ignore all the other bs in there. The important thing to know is to do what is right for you.

I smoked for 43 years and my first effort to quit using ecigs failed miserably because I was told I should use 4-8mg. Wish I’d known about ECF then. Second try, year or two later, I used 14-16mg depending on vendor. Couldn’t quite quit. Eventually bumped to 24mg and, with a great struggle, finally quit smoking completely a year and one week ago today. I’m still is a state of disbelief that I did it, so much so that I haven’t posted a one year vaperversay notice, which I should since it was due in part to the great folks here and all their excellent advice and support. Gotta love this place. :)

24mg was a massive overdose for me but it is what got me off the stinkies for good. It made me lightheaded and dizzy but not nauseous. A month later I dropped back to the 14-16mg and soon after that started DIY. Soon after that, I started dropping the nic content and am now down to 5mg. It was a natural progression, not forced. I find that I need less and less nicotine as time goes by. Nicotine also makes my ears ring a bit, something some other people have mentioned having a problem with. The less nic, the less ringing.

I always had a higher nic juice handy for “those moments” but they seem to be coming fewer and farther between. Within a month I’ll have it down to 3mg or less and plan to stay there vaping alternately 1-3mg and 0mg juice. That just seems to be where I’m headed with my physical comfort level. Heck, there’s several people here that have been happily vaping away at 32 or so mgs for ages and are happy with it. In the end, it’s all about you listening to you and not trying to live up to someone else’s expectations. Good luck and happy vaping!

Oh! Yes, the taste is different with less nicotine in it. Higher nic to me now feels like inhaling pepper spray. Some people apparently like pepper spray. I’m dropping 1mg at a time so I no longer notice it as much but before I was alternating between 16mg and 0mg and it took a little getting used to. Personally I prefer the zero now most of the time but, again, that’s just me.

I think it's definitely a question of personal taste and comfort.

I started at 18 mg 10 months ago, having been a 1.5 PAD smoker for 40 years. I was completely astounded that |I could quit cigarettes with vaping. Now I make my own liquids, and have just gone down to 4 mg.

What has helped me and even caused me to reduce the nicotine content is the increased efficiency in nic delivery of the Kayfuns and Taifun I now use just about exclusively. The Kayfun instructions even recommend reducing the nic content of your liquid to take into account the increased efficiency of the device - and in my experience, they're right.

I'm happy now at 4 mg, but even if I were still at 18 mg, I'd be happy. I feel so much better and freer now thanks to vaping.

Yup, most people don't vape that much nic with good rebuildable setups at high power. But that doesn't mean you can't if that's what you need and you are not suffering from symptoms of too much nic. You can get 24 mg juice easily from most shops online.

I look at the nicotine thing a little different than most people do. I smoked for 37 years. I used 18 mg juice when I started vaping and if I chine vaped that I got nauseous. After a few of months I went down to 12 mg and I could chain vape that with minimal symptoms. By then most of cigarette addiction was gone, but I still got the occasional cigarette craving. That lasted for over a year, diminishing slowly the whole time. By month nine I was completely off nicotine and stayed off it for months. I tried nic again for a month and then off again and have stayed off it since. I don't get addicted to nicotine, it was the chemical cocktail in the cigarettes that got me hooked.

Take from that what you will. IMO you are not really lacking nicotine, it's the other crap in cigarettes that are missing that is bothering you. You might be able to get some of that stuff with WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid) juices like Aroma has. I've never tried them, but people who have a hard time quitting with high nic regular juice have had good luck with these.

I have the feeling though that nothing will be 100% the same as burning tobacco leaf and filler plus 300 other chemicals producing about 3,500 new chemicals. OTOH, do what you have to do to stay smoke free until you get over them.

Don't give up on it, you can do this. It will get easier with time :thumb:!

It took 22 mg/ml (I DIY so can make oddball concentrations easily) to get me off the cigs. Over the course of 15 months, that's drifted slowly downward and I'm now at 5 mg/ml, which is where I'll stay for a while before trying 4.

Everybody differs, though. My mother was perfectly happy at 12 mg/ml and is now down to 2--but doesn't want to go any lower right now, even though she certainly could.

I have been tobacco free for 2 months. I was so worried about how much i vaped and the nicotine content.. I have been driving myself mad. I am down to around 9mg and about 3ml in a 24 hour period. Sure ... hell beats smoking.. I never craved a smoke once I bought my Vapermate.. I am one of the lucky ones. Good Luck to you and everyone else!!!

If you like nicotine, rock it in whatever dosage itches the scratch.

For me, sub-ohming has nothing to do with cloud chasing. I think it delivers superior flavor, vapor with mouth/lung feel, warmth, a quick draw, and most importantly a nicotine hit that I can appreciate and feel. It's just like smoking. I can vape for about the same amount that I would have smoked a cigarette, and get the results that please me.

I'm not looking to eliminate my nicotine at all. I'm a nicotine junky, love the stuff, love how sub-ohming delivers the goods.

18mg at .6Ω does it nicely for me. You rock on with your 24mg. :D

This. Closest to smoking i have found and rather than reducing the nic, i just vape less with the better RDAs.
