You know, I almost forgot about my first PV I bought, since I started vaping a couple months ago, but I just saw a thread on the "e-health cigarette" and I just remembered what a nightmare it was.

Sooo, I had been reaaaallllyyy interested in vaping for months before I got around to buying one, I wasnt sure about buying online since I didnt really trust all these seemingly chinese sites, so I did a craigslist search and found a guy selling kits of "e-health cigarettes" for $50 each, the price seemed right, so I met up with the guy and bought 2, 1 for me, 1 for my dad.

Anyways, neither came charged at all so I gave my dad his, went home, and plugged mine in, I sat down on my computer and noticed a weird burning smell, I got up and walked around my room, then noticed that the e-cigarette was plugged in (been 10 minutes) I walked over to check it out and it literally exploded... I kid you not. It EXPLODED, well... It started sparking and sizzling so I ran over and pulled it out of the wall, it gave one last sharp bang and the grey ash tip FLEW off:laugh:

still havent found it.

My dad on the other hand hated the thing, said it didnt last him more than an hour, to make him feel better I told my dad I could get a refund and I would get him something else for his bday, needless to say I lied and was down $50 since the craigslist con artist wouldnt pick up his phone, I never told my dad about mine exploding either:blush: I just ended up buying him an mp3 player.

I had given up, until someone in my town posted an add about eGO's on craigslist, I know I should have learned my lesson about craigslist, but I'm glad I bought this one, coughed up $40 (less than the e-health cig) and have never been happier since, its a knockoff, but a fantastic one, I bought a joye one but I still prefer my knockoff:)

Was I the only one with a nightmare start?

Hey - at least you lucked out on your second try and got what is probably THE most frequently recommended ecig on this board! yeah the Health ecig is one of many weak poorly made ecigs that are hawked under fancy names with outrageous prices and claims on the web.

There are some nice vendors in Canada - Happy Vaper is one and I am pretty sure he carries Ego parts. And if you haven't discovered it already, there is a Canada subforum - just search down for it on the front page of ECF

I think I spent about 3 weeks solid, or so, here at ECF researching before I pulled the trigger. LOL I also frequented the live chat room here and bugged a lot of people. At some points, I was going with 510, then eGo, then read about mods. After the countless hours of reading, and overload of info and suggestions...I realized it came down to a few main things. The appearance (analog like, or don't care) and battery life (a couple hours vs an entire day), and price for what you get in your kit. With the multitude of wonderful posts here, I realized I wanted something that would last all day, without swapping batts. I also didn't care about appearance. That obviously led me to a mod, a RoughStack 3.7v from MadVapes, and because of it's price ($75) which was between an eGo kit ($35-50) and a high end pretty mod ($100-150). I have never looked back and still have my original attys!

Mine was vaping heaven from the day my package arrived, however, I tell you this story because it COULD have been a nightmare. Surfing the web, I saw the pop up for Blu. I had one in my cart until I decided to google ecigs, and one of the first few results was ECF! The rest is history.

I plan to get a REO Mini next LOL!

:p

I am just worried about your Dad smoking an MP3; talk about unhealthy:ohmy:.

Glad you found ECF, albeit a bit late, and welcome. Maybe now that you have accepted the e-cig and have the back-up here you can wean you Dad off the MP3. I heard they are even harder to give up :).
You are not kidding... there are 2 things that I always take with me. My iPhone (built in ipod) and my pv's. I really mean always- I put them in my pocket to go check the mail, even. Speaking of mail- I am stalking the mailman for a delivery from one stop diy shop today- since NYS seems bent on making me a criminal for quitting smoking, my order from last week seems providential!
