Note for those interested in maximizing the life of batteries at the expense of speed:

Charging at a slower rate is better, to a point. Most of our 18650 batteries have a "standard" charge rate of 1.0A-1.5A and a "rapid" charge rate of up to 4A. Charging at 0.5A might help extend the life of your batteries a bit but if the batteries are not getting warm at 1.0A then that's a good compromise between battery life and convenience.

The SC4 would make this inconvenient since it always defaults to 2A and does not remember adjustments the next time the cells are inserted.

Not too sure if the SkyRC MC3000 will remember set programs for charging when you disconnect it from the power source, would be nice to know though.

But SC4 is my workhorse, just the only thing that lets it down is that it doesn't do 21700 batteries due to having short battery sleds.

Yes, the MC3000 will remember all programs and settings when disconnected from power. But there is a factory reset that will put everything back to original defaults if you choose to do that.

Are all 4 bays in the SC4 independent? Just asking because it mentions cell pairs.
Independently. The settings allow you to select any bay and adjust the charging parameters. My review mentions pairs because that's a common use case in vaping.
