Is there such thing as a digital smack? Would you have to program it first? Maybe it could turn the keyboard against him.... hehe

Years ago, Tom and Ray Magliozzi, of Car Talk fame, had a 'dope slap' page on the Car Talk website. So you could e-mail the URL to someone. Sadly, it seems to be gone.

Then why has every one that lashed out at me assumed that I was talking about them when that was not the case?
\

Id tell ya but Im so old I forgot what I was going to say:lol::lol::lol:. Your statement is incorrect as most people that vape are people who have smoked for years, not all but most. blasting the older generation is not going to score a lot of points blasting the politicians would get a lot of agreement.

UPDATE: Not making a ton of progress yet
UPDATE: Although, I gotta admit, the guy is somewhat funny

If only he had a life, I could go work out and stop conversing with him.
:D

EDIT: Did that offend you, junior?
EDIT: ;)

My wife is gonna be ...... I'm not working out tonight.
That is never a good thing.

Not the not working out part, the ...... wife part.

Hey, I'm pushing 50, but I don't feel like an old fart yet. Might as well toss my oar in too.

An excess of blinkin' flashy animated gizmerated cruft is a distraction. IOW, I agree with the "fairground" characterization. I'm tryin' to read here, dangnabbit! A few here and there is one thing, but trying to read a thread liberally sprinkled with nodding, flaming, rolling, winking smileys, as well as flashing avatars and sig images is bordering on painful.

FWIW, I'm on a 7Mb DSL connection -- don't have any trouble with download speeds. For the most part, an animated GIF is usually not going to be a bandwidth hog anyway, and most browsers will cache the image anyway, so it should download only once every some number of weeks. My sympathy to anyone on dialup.

There is help though. I have no idea how to do this if you're running a browser other than Firefox (or Mozilla, or any other browser using the Gecko rendering engine). Enter about:config in the location bar text box. Enter anim in the filter text box. Double click on image.animation_mode and enter once or none in the dialog box. It's what I do. Some minor drawbacks, such as :nun: looks like somebody with lip plate wearing headphones. But the benefits outweigh these, IMNSHO.

No idea whether it's an issue, but anytime I see something flashing at a high rate, I wonder about epileptic seizures. I recall reading about seizures being induced by driving past a picket fence at just the right (wrong?) speed, especially if the fence is backlit. I used to know someone who couldn't drive for that reason. Strobe Light Seizures & Driving

Other than that, nice little flame war.

Also, yeah ... like the fist of an angry God!

Can you please translate that into 40-something non-geek-speak?
Because I got no idea WTF that means.

So then it's decided! Can we all agree not to goof around on the ECF while we're driving? Problem solved.

FWIW = For What it's Worth

7Mb DSL connection = pretty speedy Digital Subscriber Line; 7 Megabits / second. Well, now that the telco and cableco folks are rolling out stuff like FIOS (Fiber-Optic Service) it ain't all that high compared to what you can get if you really wanna shell out the bucks, but still pretty darned fast.

Nearly all web browsers make temporary copies of everything you download. That's the "cache". Your web surfing would be very slow if not for that. There's some data that gets exchanged between your browser and the web server about how long items should be kept in cache, so your browser knows to check periodically to see if something has changed.
