Hi,
When I was a smoker I always had a stash of at least 100 rollups ready made just in case. I used to roll about 40 a day just to keep it topped up.
When I started on ecigs I still rolled the same amount even though I was down to less than 5 a day and by the time I made the switch I had over 200 rolled with no more baccy to use.

Last night I had to get something from the drawer where they were stored and I have to admit I was tempted just to see if I still liked them. I said no.

Tonight, I met my son at the archery club and gave them all to him. Not for him to smoke but he has several scrounging neighbours who are always asking him if he can spare a .... I have tried to get him on ecigs but it just isn't happening yet so I thought that I could save him some money by giving him my rollys for the scroungers.

All I've got left is thousands of papers and filter tips and once they go I will have nothing left in the house to tempt me.

As the title says "NO GOING BACK NOW"

Well done, Phil.

It does get better the longer you vape, I did similar when I first packed up smoking, I would try the occasional cigarette just to test myself.

I have only been vaping for six months, the last time I tried the test was about six weeks ago, I found the taste of tobacco revolting and threw the cigarette away as I actually find vaping more satisfying, this after 40 years of smoking.

Keep it up because over time your tastes will change.

Good for you Phil. Don't give up on your son yet. When I started vaping and got my Mom to start just 10 days later my Dad was not interested at all. He said we just replaced one habit for another and were still "smokers" anyway. He was quite stubborn about it so we just left him alone. One day four moths after my Mom started vaping he asked to take a drag off her pv. He ended up keeping it the rest of the night, then the next day, then the next week. That was 5 months ago. He hasn't touched tobacco since.

Well, it took me a long time to switch 100%. I loved my ciggies and cigars. Only about 2 to 4 a day so it's funny how long it took me to change over completely. Luckies/Winston with the filter cut off was my thing, or fat rollies with 50-50 Winston/RYO baccy. Stronggg.

Started vaping -- kept smoking about 2 a day. Then after a few months it was one a day. Then after about 10 months, maybe longer, I realised I hadn't had a smoke in a while. No idea really of when the last smoke was. So it can work out even for people who don't want to stop smoking, and don't even keep count of where they are in the process of changing over.

Basically almost a year, but I never did want to quit at all. Just happened...

The first 18 months of vaping for me was with 5 volt boxmods as nothing else would do the job at that time (wasn't any VV then). There were 6v tubemods but the 5v option was simpler and cheaper (regular SR atties). Gradually reduced the power. Now a lot less power does the trick but I'm still on 36mg, can't OD on that no matter how much I vape. Funny how people are different.

Hi,
I didn't plan on stopping smoking, I just wanted to cut down from my 40 ryo a day but I had made the total switch in 5 days. 8pm on the archery range and I lit up my second smoke of the day. When I realised that it was only my 2nd I knew that I didn't need them any more.
That was last July and apart from a quick doubt that led me to give all my ciggies away I haven't missed them at all.

UPDATE

Hi,
Got rid of all my papers (30 packs) and tips (10 boxes) last night. I gave most of them to my son with the plan that he sells them to his neighbours with the money going to his daughters (my grandaughters). I gave a few packs of papers and tips to a member of our archery club with the instructions that as soon as he uses them up he will make the switch to ecigs. He has been saying for ages that he will make the switch sometime. Now I've given him a set time to do it.
Thats it, nothing left in the house except ashtrays to tempt me back to stinkies.

Well done mate.

Thought I'd throw this at you:- I started vaping a month ago after 10 months on NRT with only a few cigars last Christmas. These had me ready to 'crumble' and e-cigs saved the day!

However, versus not smoking at all, vaping does produce a cough - nothing approaching the severity of a smokers' cough, but it is there, and I do miss the absence of compulsion that was happening with NRT.

Long term the aim would be to reserve the e-cig as that occasional cigar, something to think about when the novelty wears off!

For now this comes to mind: acetaldehyde is a substance present in tobacco smoke which exhibits a synergistic effect with nicotine and is considered the second most addictive component of smoke. Acetaldehyde is a known carcinogen in humans, it is also a metabolite of alcohol (does the urge to smoke when you drink ring any bells?), and it is also present in ... coffee (that make any sense to anyone?). Here's my two pence: If it ever really comes to it, and you are about to light one, a nice cup of coffee with your vape might do you the world of good.

Keep up the good work
