I use 0mg DIY'd liquid, and generally stick to one flavour (same as I had brand-lubs as a smoker),
So, when I DIY I add Diabolo Loco (capsicum) to my mixture to add a little throat hit-and I do mean a little.
I dip a plastic cocktail stick into the bottle of DL and lift it back out the liquid-allowing the Xess to drip back into the bottle,
that stick then gets swished around in my 30 mil bottle of PG/VG and flavouring (Hazelnut)-and thats it done.

So, how do you do yours ? :vapor:

Where do you get capsicum? Last time I herd that and asked the same question the answer was it's available in full strength only and very dangerous to use.

Flavor West sells capsicum as a flavoring and I believe MBV carries it in smaller bottles as well. May be worth checking out for those that want to drop down to 0.

It is serious sheet Danny-this stuff in the hands of an idiot could tear you a new and unnecessary eyeball socket-but I've been ok with it so far :p, it is strong, and only needs enough to coat a pin head to add that peppery bite, maybe the 'poco' has been tamed somewhat ?
I dunno, the bottle I got will last about 600 years.

Interesting. May be worth looking into but I would guess it should be used cautiously.

Indeed. The flavoring is rated at 15 million on the scoville scale, so that's about as hot as a good Serrano pepper (which is hotter than a good jalapeno), so it's definitely not something you want to inhale a lot of at once. I love spicy food so I don't think the heat, if any, will be much of a bother, so I may have to try a little bit soon just to see how well it works compared to the 12mg nic I normally vape.

As Hoosier has stated many times on this subject there is really no substitute for Nicotine throat hit. There are substitutes but it's not the same thing. The additives are more a throat irritant then a throat hit. As I've never tried to duplicate throat hit I am no expert on the subject but what has been discussed thus far on the subject, Hoosier's statement does seem to make sense to me.

You'll get used to having 0 throat hit.
My style of vaping 0 nic bears little resemblance to smoking or vaping w/nic.

It's hard to explain but I draw in a lot longer and then let the vapor sort of roll out the sides of my mouth. I vape to get the most amount of vapor, mouth feel and taste. It's nothing like smoking at all.
I used to use Flash at 1/2 %. It gave me throat hit but also a headache. When I dropped it to 1 drop per 10 ml I didn't notice any throat hit.

Here's how we do it:

Here is an EASY way to replicate throat hit easily, cheaply, consistently & safely...no matter what base, flavor or level of nicotine is used!

Start with this (a bottle will last a lifetime): HEAT by Flavorwest

Thoroughly mix 5 drops of HEAT into 10ml of VG...and then use that blend at 2% (for starters). There's no taste at all; no need for filtering, no fuss - no muss...just plain ole TH (that you can easily adjust, control & duplicate).

What we call "throat hit" is nothing more than simple irritation. Capsaicin from peppers has been used for decades (in stronger amounts) to cause people to cough 'predictably' for medical testing, etc.

From here: Safety of capsaicin cough challenge testing

...RESULTS:

One hundred twenty-two published studies since 1984 described 4,833 subjects (4,374 adults, 459 children) undergoing capsaicin cough challenge, with no serious adverse events reported. Subjects included healthy volunteers as well as patients with asthma, COPD, pathologic cough, and other respiratory conditions. Minor complaints described in a small fraction of studies consisted mainly of transient throat irritation. Personal communication with the authors of > 90% of the studies confirmed an absence of any serious adverse events. Furthermore, these investigators have performed thousands of additional capsaicin challenge studies not reported in the literature, also without any associated serious adverse events.

CONCLUSIONS:

A review of the 20-year clinical experience has failed to uncover a single serious adverse event associated with capsaicin cough challenge testing in humans...

WOOHOO!

TH = irritant

Nicotine = irritant
Capsicum = irritant

They are not "exactly" the same feeling to some, but the dilution & percentages we used were "spot on" to us.
