I searched for this but can't find anything regarding pg vg without nicotine. I just got 1 gallon each of pg vg.I t seems like i need to split it up into maybe half litre bottles so i am not introducing oxygen every time i mix.Without spending a small fortune online anyone any idea what i need? I was thinking maybe airtight plastic bottles that does not leach. What do you use? Surely kmart etc has the answer. Thanks for any responses.

You don't need the same precautions as you do if it has nicotine in it. I would just keep it in a cool dark place. Shelf life is a couple years at best.

Thanks for the reply, seems a pain to pour a gallon jug into small bottles all the time though.I thought maybe air tight bottles for mixing then just top them off as needed.

How ever you decide to bottle them is up to you. :) I don't buy that much at a time myself.

Just make sure to not introduce high-heat as that changes the flavor profile. As said keep in dark closet or alike and top-off in-use bottle simply. It will last a couple years fine atleast, if watching the heat. If you have high-heat e.g. no AC in summer, then refridgerator or freezer is an option. The only thing that can happen else, is the VG can get thinner and thinner, as it's highly hygroscopic, but if not closing and opening a million times and it's not an amount to last many years then fine. If having longer lasting amounts than that, then it could be rebootled into e.g. quarts or something, but normally not really needed... If storing in e.g. fridge, then let come to room temp before opening, or else added moisture is drawn in upon each open/close cycle and will thin the liquid...

In my experience, then keeping under 30C is vital and the only real important thing actually to look for... Over 30C for pro-longed time either makes the VG sour or otherwise bad tasting... I mailed with a VG manufacturer, and he also stated that VG was pretty "rough" and stable under normal conditions, except high-heat e.g. 30C for more than a couple days at a time, which is the main thing to avoid, and i've dumped alot of VG down the drain because of that, as having no AC in summer-time where I live...

For those of us in the U.S., 30 degrees C. = 86 degrees F.

I misplaced a half-used bottle of PG dated 2012 and came across it a few weeks ago. It had been stored at room temperature in glass all that time. We don't have AC in that room. The PG was fine.

No need to divide into smaller bottles unless you have an issue handling a large container. I keep my open gallons in the refrigerator and my sealed gallons in a cool closet. I keep refilling 500ml wide neck bottles just to make my working VG/PG handling easier. Other then that no special handling or storage is needed.

Yes, PG imho holds up much better to high heat than VG does... Every time I have ditched VG for getting heat-degraded taste-wise, the PG was unaffected... In fact I have PG now which have survived two summers without AC where the VG got ditched both summers, and it's still fine, or was last I checked atleast...

Logically, atleast to me, but without any true knowledge about it, it also seems to make sence that a petrolium-derived product(PG) would hold up better than an organic product distilled from vegetable-oils... It also has much better anti-bacterial/mold properties I believe...

Taste it directly and also vape some to test... if it has a bitter sweet alcoholic taste and nothing else, then it's fine... PG is very rough and degrades not easily, but up to you...

Or as you don't know the taste of PG, then just make a mix you know well with it and see if the flavor somehow is off...

Bacteriostatic and antifungal, both PG and VG store fairly well in their original plastic containers at room temperature (cool) if kept in a dark environment. I've used some stored in that fashion that was about three years old, it looked/tasted the same as when I first purchased it, no perceivable difference at all.

Recently however, I started buying PG and VG by the gallon (instead of by the liter) because of the price break ($22 per gallon shipped). Gallon jugs are a bit difficult to use from/handle/store so I'm searching for a storage solution. I currently use two 500ml wide mouth liquid nic containers I saved from the old days to store the PG/VG I leave out for daily use. I refill these 500ml containers as needed and store the remainder of each gallon in the freezer next to the liquid nic (just because I have the freezer space available). I don't like the ever increasing volume of air space left inside the gallon jugs as I use from them so I'm considering buying either 16oz (480ml)or 32oz (960ml) Boston round bottles with poly-cone caps to store the remainder of each gallon in. The 16oz can be had for around $28 per dozen shipped or the 32oz for around $45 per dozen shipped. Same type of bottles/caps I use to store liquid nic in just larger.

Nice to see you out of the NET forum Str8vision and I'm still getting great results from your hot alcohol extraction process. Love the cleaner NET's it produces.

I to buy my PG/VG by the gallon (My last purchase was 2 gallons of each). I store them in a cool dark closet until I open them then I store them in the refrigerator. I also like you pour what I need to work with into 500ml large neck bottles saved from a previous purchase which I keep out on my mixing station.
