Nicotine provides physiological addiction, but there's more to addiction than just your body craving something. You can get addicted to anything in life, computers, porn, sports, cars. You could get addicted to the feeling of inhaling and exhaling.

This, exactly. For me, the habit of bringing the cigarette to my mouth, inhaling, and exhaling is more powerful than the nicotine addiction. For example, when I've tried quitting in other ways (patch, gum, etc), even when using a nicotine strength higher than the level I was actually smoking, I still went crazy. Honestly, I had no soul when I tried to quit.

Now, I'm using a lower nicotine strength than I regularly smoked, but I'm not having those mood swings or headaches that I had when I tried by just replacing the nicotine source.

I wouldn't recommend picking it up if you've never smoked an analog in your life, but then again, most of us who smoked analogs never looked at "social smokers" with anything but jealousy for their ability to pick them up and then put them back down for months. It's a slippery slope, but knowing the risk of a psychological addiction, you can make your own decision.

It would introduce foreign substances to your lungs and body, it isn't considered cool, it costs money, it could become an addiction, and it could become a "gateway" habit that leads to nicotine vaping or even smoking. I think that sums up everyone's concern. Why would you consider it? If you need some stress relief, take up listening to classical music, bird watching, writing poetry, doing yoga, meditation, or any number of healthy things that can relax the mind and please your senses.

You were very smart to come here to ask advice. I suggest you follow your instincts and listen to the advice you've been given. None of us would be here on these forums if we had not made a terrible mistake years ago. I was very young when I started smoking cigarettes mainly out of curiosity. I am a pretty strong willed person and never imagined that 40 years later I would still be struggling with the results of my curiosity as a child. After having lost several family members to smoking related diseases and the recent diagnosis of copd in my mother, I have realized that something has to be done about my smoking. This has been my last ditch attempt to quit smoking, and so far it seems to be working.

I would never recommend vaping to someone who does not already smoke. We all perfectly understand your curiosity though. It was that same curiosity that led us to smoking in the first place. We just hope that others can learn from our mistakes.

I'm not gonna lie
You're a big boy and you know what's addictive and what isn't
So here's my opinion.
Ecigs are a GREAT relaxing aid and stop smoking aid. If you want to try it, go ahead, its VERY VERY safe compared to analogs. If you want to try one, DO IT, but don't and I repeat, PLEASE DON'T start smoking cigarettes. vaping is MUCH MUCH better and safer.

I'm not gonna be like the others and say "don't start, blah blah blah"
you're gonna do what you want. I say go for it, you won't become a smoker just because you started vaping. lol

and when you try the ecig, DO NOT buy a blu. DO NOT buy one at the mall. Look ON ECF for advice on the best starter device.

I hope this is not an anti-e-cig troll...looking to see if we would tell them to give it a try.
I'm thrilled to see that the vast majority have said NO..DON'T DO IT!!!

If you need to relax...get a massage.

paranoid much?
are you seriously thinking that?

*sigh* one of the MANY MANY problems with this forum.....

Oh, nice reply btw. maybe you should have "gotten a massage" when you first started, smartass

I personally would recommend against it. You are an adult and it is ultimately your decision, but I can tell you as a long time smoker (38 years), it is not a good habit.
Also as an important additional note I have not seen anybody mention yet, even 0mg has some detectable nicotine. I don't know how much nic it takes to get your body craving, but it is a highly addictive habit for me personally (as is caffeine, for me).
If you have never tried it, don't. I suggest you avoid the curiosity, or peer pressure. Enjoy your health.

Although vaping is perceived to be much safer than smoking, (which I believe it is), and PG and VG are "safe products" in the context of food and pharmaceuticals. Inhaling anything other than air (78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.039% carbon dioxide) is not optimal for your lungs or body. Granted, with factories and cars and other various pollutants humanity has added to the environment, its hard to get a clean breath anyway, but would you put your mouth on a tailpipe of a car just for ....s and giggles. Obviously I did, but you are likely smarter than I am.

If I were you, I would not try it. With that said I can understand your curiosity. You might try one & decide you didn't want to spend anymore money on it. e-cigs are a smoking alternative and most of us on this site are very glad to have an alternative to a tough addiction.

I have had friends who don't smoke just take a vape on mine to see what it is like. If you do try it., please don't get any with nicotine. It is highly and quickly addictive.

You are absolutely free as an adult to do exactly as you please regarding this issue. No one should tell you what you can and cannot put in your body. That said, I am firmly in the camp that suggests that, if you are not a smoker to begin with, you don't want to put anything in your lungs other than clean air.

Agreed. I am not the type of person to tell another adult what to do... but it is likely in your best interests (monetarily and health-wise) to steer clear. Just a suggestion though.

You WILL become addicted based on this statement you made;

Me, i never smoked in my life but i would like to try the feel of smoking (stress relief, relaxing, etc)

Addiction is all psychological. As soon as you make the mental association between vaping/smoking as stress relief you will always go back to it for that reason. Smokers have to literally reprogram their mind to break the addiction. My suggestion would be to find another activity you can associate with that feeling. Many are free.

Exersize would be a great thing that is a lot better for your body. It provides natural stress relief that is both mental and physical due to endorphin production/release.

This type of thread has been posted before, and it won't be the last, I'm sure. The psychological effects have already been brought to attention with the basis of developing a habit you've never attained naturally. But, if you feel the need to indulge the urge to begin vaping 0mg e-juice, then by all means, use your better adult judgment to do it.

The free act of breathing (inhaling and exhaling) to relieve stress, just isn't enough, apparently. Sometimes people may have to pay for air.
