100 threads about something similar, I know, but I thought I'd share.

I know I'm not the only one with this issue. Every time I take a hit from my e-squizz around somebody who doesn't vape, the first thing I hear is negativity. It could be inside, outside, over here, over there, no matter what people LOVE to be offended by my vaping. This is especially true for many of the people I know who smoke cigarettes still.

We all know that this is generally from a lack of education on the subject, but I assumed people would be more supportive of the fact I'm not smoking anymore. Every time I hear "You know those things are worse than cigarettes, right?" or "I heard those things will explode and kill you" or even "Cigarettes aren't even that bad for you" I think of one of my favorite quotes:

"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it has been accepted as self-evident."

Assuming Vapocalype doesn't ruin this for us, do you think vaping will reach step three for the general public? It's gonna be a long road in my opinion, but we're making progress every day.

Edit: why did I post this in New Members?
You think you got it bad? Check out this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ry-labour-called-upon-ruling-unsafe-work.html

I just started 3 days ago.... Had a family dinner yesterday, and asked my sister (who has the nose of a bloodhound) if she thought the smell of vapor was bad/noticeable. She didn't notice it at all, and was thrilled I was trying to kick the analogs!

My mother was always the worst when it came to cigarettes. She's a nurse and she's seen so many smokers die of various smoking related illnesses. She can't force an adult to stop smoking, but she did ban it from her property. Whenever I visited, we had to walk down the block to smoke. It was surprising that she bought me my first set up. A generic, 650 mAh, variable volt, passthrough battery and a bottom coil clearo with some cherry e liquid. Not only that, she let me vape indoors when I visited! It was raining, and my brother and husband wound up needing to go to their cars an driving down the block to smoke, while I vaped away warm and dry in the house. She even bought a set for my youngest sister, who isn't quite 18 yet, but somehow is never without cigarettes, even after being sent away for the summer so she could hopefully quit. So, now most of the smokers in my family vape, and my mother has been handing out cheap ego blister packs to everyone she knows and she's had much better luck then I have had tying smokers. She's a medical professional after all.

ah if the smokers dont quit they will stop smoking eventually...the tobacco will win

let folks freak out all they want to, in the end im vaping 4-5 things: pg/vg/nic/flavorings

tobacco is over 7000 chemicals and I know its very bad for you (including special guest Radon, you know what Radon is dont you? good!)

if smokers dont want to vape, fine..let them..this way I get more Mad Murdock Mellow Melange to myself (yum).

I am so happy I quit cigs....what in the hell was I thinking by smoking.

That's a great mom you have! She obviously did some research, by not buying the junk from the convenience store. ;)

She was staying with my grandmother down in SC. My grandmother was dying of lung cancer, which spread to her brain and my mother was her medical by proxy. The hospice nurse who came to help each day vaped, and brought my mother to a vape shop a couple blocks away from my grandmothers house. Insisted that my mother NOT get me one of those cigalike kits sold in pharmacies and convenience stores. Showed her the $15, 650 mAh, variable volt, passthrough, blister pack kit the vape shop had that came with a generic bottom coil clearo that took Evod coils and a USB charger. My mother was able to buy one for each smoker in the family, and she gave me mine right after my grandmothers funeral. I thought it was a huge device then, and I was reluctant to try it becaus it looked nothing like a cigarette. My mother explained that she was told that this was way better then cigalikes, and considering how my grandmother just died and it was the day of her funeral, I had to promise to try. To my surprise, it worked and now I've got 2 MVP 2's. So much for wanting the smaller cigalikes.

Ignorant people just make me laugh, usually the main nay sayers are smokers still puffing away. I am at a point where smokers really disgust me now. Always have to clean up after them with all the ashes the leave on my gaming tables, their blowing smoke in my face and their nonchalant flicking of ashes onto the floor. I feel sad for them because there is vape and they don't have to smoke.

Did have a good experience with another employee that has started vaping. She had a spinner and some plastic clearo. Asked her some questions and she is vaping to quit, wants to get pregnant. Decided to pif my last ego battery, protank 2 and 10 coil heads. On the next break I asked her when she worked next and that I had some gear for her. She goes "really? How much you want for it?" I laughed and said, nothing, it will be a gift, only stipulation is, that if you quit vaping or get better gear, to pay it forward to someone else that needs a hand. Gave her a test vape of my Provari with the Flashi on it, her eyes lit up and she loved the flavor of the juice I had made.

Just being able to help one person out makes dealing with all the stupid people worth it.

A couple days ago I dislocated my knee at work and had to take an ambulance ride to the hospital. I was instructing my co workers to grab all my belongings including my ecig. One of the parametics said "you shouldn't use those, they are TERRIBLE for you!". Mind you, I was in some serious agony at the time but I said something to the point of that they were a heck of a lot better than the cigarettes I had been smoking for over 20+ years, although I didn't phrase it quite so nicely (I did read the forum rules). This had been really the only negative comment I've had thrown my way since I gave up smoking for vaping. Most people I encounter are curious and I always carry a bunch of business cards from my favorite smoke shop. I think the biggest problem is the general ignorance that people have about vaping...I'm always seeing "shock journalism" articles that contain little to no actual facts or any kind of research into the matter (I'm looking at YOU, Huffington Post!) Oh well, I'm hoping as time goes by, the general public will have the opportunity to learn all about vaping. All I know is the I was a smoker for over half my life and now I'm not!

I just PIFed my original, generic ego and clearo with a couple of coils to my sister in law. She's a stealth smoker, who's been trying to hide her smoking from her kids for years. Gave her some Rasberry liquid too. She likes it so far, but I think she only uses it at home so that she never smells like a cigarette to the kids. At work, she's been smoking. The clearo I gave her is okay, but it's no Protank or Mini Protank. I wanted to give her one of those, but hubby wouldn't let me as they're the only clearos he uses.

I hope you hugged your mom for saving your life.

I got a hug from my mom for saving hers--I got her started on vaping and she now has as much gear as I do.

I'm poor, but I PIFed my original cig-alikes. I was never going to use those again, nor the cartos, nor most of the liquid I had bought (I now DIY and like my own liquid a thousand times better).

As of now, I'm using the Volt X2s I use to destruction. Once gainfully employed again I'll start PIF-ing X2s or knockoffs around.

Just got to love medical professionals that don't bother to learn the available facts before making a statement. Doctors only practice medicine, and paramedics apparently only play at it.

felis.sylvestris, welcome to the forum and congrats on your vape.

+1. I'm going to listen to my doctors, who have high-fived me and given me their blessing.

Or, as my doctor put it, if it were a hundred times worse than he thought it was it would still be better than the cigarettes--and the way my lungs now sound and my bloodwork shows, it can't possibly be a hundred times worse.
