So I've been vaping for just over two weeks now and want to get a little more longevity out of my smoke sessions. I've just been using the refillable atmo/cartridge combo that came with my Diablo Falcon and I already want to get into the world of rebuildable tanks and/or cartos. I'm looking at upgrading my PV unit already and will probably keep the Falcons on standby, or if I need something that's portable enough to fit in a pen pocket.

Price point really isn't much of an issue, but any recommendations would be great. I tend to smoke juices that are high PG content, and will probably be going upwards of 50/50 blends, but probably no more than that. Videos would also be greatly appreciated on set up and breakdown.

And how's it goin Hawaii vapers?!

Hi and welcome! I'm not clear on what you mean about "rebuildable tanks." Do you mean carto tanks like this:

Okay. A carto tank is a tube made of plastic, glass or metal, with a punched cartomizer inside. The tube has end caps or grommets to hold the carto in place. Some vendors sell tanks with a pre-installed carto, some sell only the tank. What is your price range and what flavor juices do you vape? Some juices crack, etch or melt polycarbonate (a common tube material), which would affect the tank you select.

I foresee myself smoking more fruity flavors that will entail pretty light colored, clearer liquids. Some citrus among them for sure. I can't see myself wanting to go back to smoke anything regular tobacco flavored, possibly clove but that would be the closest I'd get. For that I would probably just use an atomizer and a drip tip or something.

For PG/VG ratio i would probably stick to higher PG liquids, probably no more than a 50/50 PG/VG blend. Kind of curious to know how it can affect equipment. I've read that the higher VG juices can sometimes be harder to wick properly sometimes.

I'd like to start out with a few cheaper alternatives so I can get used to the process, but ideally in the end quality is all that matters. Can you find some good sub $20 carto tanks to start out with? And then perhaps something a little more 'advanced' for when I feel like I'm ready for it.

Hopefully that's detailed enough info about what I'm wanting to do. Thanks for your help and quick responses.

Mortificant,
Aloha Bra!!! Welcome to ECF.
If you want carto tanks I would suggest getting the smoktech tank in either 3ml or 5ml.
You can find them here AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Dual Coil 510 Cartomizer Tank 3.5ml
Then get a few cartomizers, both single and dual coil, to see which one you like best.
AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Dual Coil
AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Dual Coil
You will then decide which resistance (ohms) you need. I would suggest starting out wiht LR (low resistance) cartos, they are usually around 1.5-2.0 ohms. Those would work great for vaping around 3.7V to 4.0V.
If you are refering to "Rebuildable Tanks" with the build your own wicks and coils, those are called RBA's (rebuildable attomizers).
I have found that the AGA-T Plus is a great first RBA. It is faily easy to build and is has a great vape. The AGA has a wider top cap (more room to work) and in my experience is less "finiky" and tempermental than my other RBA's. The big plus here is that it only costs $25-$30!!!
Its a great first RBA, its what I learned on. AGA Tiamat PLUS - Rebuildable Atomizer
You will need to get a Multimeter (to measure your ohms after you wrap you coil) or a VV device that allows you to measure your ohms directly from the device, (ie VMax, Zmax, eVic, or Provari).
As far as videos go.....You Tube is full of them, not to mention other threads here have great advice and other tutorial videos in the threads as well.
Good Luck and Happy Vaping

Edit: Forgot to mention that wiht the AGA T+, you will also need to purchase SS mesh 400 or 500 weave and some resistance wire Kanthal A1 or nichrome wire in 32 or 30 gauge to start out. Once you become more familiar with rolling wicks, wrapping coils you can play with different gauge wire to customize your vaping experience. (some like high ohm with high voltage, 32G and some like low ohm coils, less than 1ohm with lower voltage, 28G)
LOTS OF OPTIONS with rebuildables.

I have two of the tanks Tankman77 linked to above, but I didn't pay that much for them. They are the same as "SmokTech." "DCT" is a misnomer, since you don't have to put a dual coil in them (I only use single coil). 510 SCT-V2 3.5ml Tank

Vapors Choice has the tank for $5.00, but it's not indicated in the product description if it comes with a pre-installed carto.

I also have tanks very IBTanked and Valley View Vapes. Each one is a bit different, but I like them all.

Like everyone is saying-what your looking for is the tank and cartomizer setup...but eventually when you want more vapor production, more flavor, and customization i recommend the a7 or the IGO-L as your first steps into the rebuildable world. they are solid choices that both feature drip tanks and pave the way for a myriad of flavor changes and not having to commit to just one flavor.

Hmmm. I'll look into those 2 for sure as well, but it seems to be somewhat difficult to find them in stock anywhere at the moment

So it seems rebuild-ables like the A7 or the IGO-L can only take a few drips at a time is that correct? Can you drop down the drip tip( may seem like a dumb questions but I'm just not sure) or do you have to open it up and drip right on the coil? Do people use these just for chilling at home and a tank/cart for when they are out and about?? It just seems really inefficient.
