Forgive my noobishness. :)

So I started smoking when I first turned 18; (3 years ago) just every now and then when I needed to relax or if I was out with friends. I only smoked like a pack a month to start, and eventually started smoking more as it was a great ice-breaker and allowed me to get to know people in a "relaxed" enviornment. I loved the "social" aspect of smoking and it's helped me to get to know some people I now consider close friends. Right now I'd say I only smoke (on average) 5 a day, so I'm not as addicted as some other poor souls. I tend to smoke more when I'm out and about and/or with friends at a party etc.

I literally discovered the existence of e-cigs TODAY and I was both intrigued and amazed that such a wonderful thing could exist AND be legal (as of now). I've been trying to cut back you see, but gum and patches aren't for me because they only replace the nicotine and not the physical act of smoking. That's why I feel so drawn to e-cigs; they give me the nicotine AND they let me keep the social aspect intact (probably even more so since friends and new acquaintances will be just as intrigued by it as I am)

Anyway, I'm looking on advice for what you would recommend for me, as well as where to get the best deals. A good online store would help a lot I think. The first company I saw that sold these devices was SmokingEverywhere, but they don't appear to be the best and most honest company.

A general guideline of what I am looking for:
About the size of a normal analog
Cartridges that last between 5-10 analogs before refilling
Produces a lot of vapor (I heard using a little alcohol or a bigger heating element will do the trick)

I'd also like to look at different coloring options. I know I want something that's the shape and size of a cig, but I'm torn between the classic white/brown or something all-together different like a black or red or blue one.

Just some last second details:
I smoke Marlboro 27's
I want to outright switch over to e-cigs
I live in the Kansas City, KS area

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions. I appreciate it more than you know; this whole experience has been overwhleming and I want to make sure I get what I am looking for so that this will work for me. :)

Hi veritas, welcome to ECF. Get yourself a 510 in black with blue led, you'll love it. Start with 24mg or 36mg liquid and see what works, if that's too high you can get lower nic juice and cut it so you won't be stuck with juice that's too low in nic to use. Flavors are up to you, I prefer RY4 but you will want to try a lot of different ones for yourself.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the quick reply vince!

I assume you are referring to the Joye510... it seems to be a favorite among vapors. I was already leaning that way or possibly towards a 901.

When you say "get lower nic juice and cut it" you mean mix up a "custom" batch to give me the right nic dosage right?

I still have a couple of questions:
Cartridges can either be bought or manually refilled with new nic juice right?
Where is a good place to shop? I tried out a couple of stores, but they didn't seem to have what I was looking for.

Ok, so I discovered libertyecig.com, and they seem to have what I'm looking for at good prices. Are they a trusted company?

They've also got a good selection of liquid in both "TASTY" and (I assume) their own "Liberty" brands. I don't know what the difference would be.

I've also been browsing Truesmoker.com after being directed from an advertisment on this site. They have a ton of different liquids for sale. Again, are they a well trusted company?

I'm now trying to decide between the 510, 4075, and the 910 (in order from most likely to least likely).

One more question I thought of: would you recommend manual or automatic batteries and why? I heard manual batteries let you take bigger drags and last longer.

I could recommend nhaler.com who has great service and always gets my orders to me in 2-3 days and his kit includes some liquid. Also rockymountainvapor has good customer service and ships pretty quick. I think the hardest thing about getting your first e-cig is waiting for it to arrive after you order it. I have ordered from both of the suppliers that I mentioned and both are in the U.S. and have good customer service. Drew at nhaler carries my favorite liquid and he is a pleasure to deal with. Most times he answers questions sent via email from his website very quickly. He is always more than happy to answer questions. Good luck!

First off Im new here, this is my first post....I hate to drop in on veritas88's thread but I cant seem to start my own anywhere on the forums.....I guess I need a couple reply post first.

Im in the same boat as you are veritas88, except I have known about the E-Cig for several months now. My only issue was the person that showed it to me, didnt seem to know a whole lot about it (they just bought theres) and so they were not very informative. The biggest draw back from the first one I saw was that it did not produce very much vapor at all. It took a very might draw on the dang thing to only be rewarded with a very small amount of smoke, even after she refilled the cartridge with liquid (vanilla if i remember right) it still did not have any of the same effects of a cigarette, it also did not have the same feel. I saw a video about 2 days ago and it has gotten me wondering if its much better than I had anticipated. With a steep price tag and from what I had personally experienced I was very turned off....Also the fact that it may or may not stay legal in the USA.

I would like to try the smoking everywhere kits and/or also the No. & kit 7 appeals to me! I want something thats the same size as a cigarette and looks like a cigarette. I smoke Marlboro Blend No.27's so I guess you could say thats a medium strength cig, but I also smoke a pack to pack and half a day. Are these brands trustworthy? are the companies and websites that they are shown on trustworthy? I have to many questions, and the search engine on these forums sucks (as does on most any forum). I have heard people mention "manual" or "automatic", also heard the word "analog" what are these terms?

Stay away from smoking anywhere...very bad and overpriced. Auto battery works by just sucking on itand has a tendancy to go off when you dont want it to, Manual batteries give you better control of your hit and dont go off by themselves. Analog is a term to describe tobacco cigarettes. If you decide to go with a real cigarette look then you might want to look into the m series(m401,m402,m403) but for a better working cig the 510 with the manual battery works great, produces good vapor and good throat hit. You need to do a lot of reading on here, all of your questions have answers in the threads here. Check out some reviews in the review section, that will help a ton. GL and Welcome both of you to the wonderful world of vapor.:D

Well guys, if your looking for a direct replacement of the analog cigarette the M401 or 103 are almost the identical size. the difference between manual and auto batteries is the manual you press a button to activate the atomizer to get vaper. The autos are activated by sound, so if your in a noisy environment they drain themselves.

The problem is if you get one that looks just like an analog you can only get auto batteries, so I would suggest trying a 901 or 510. They both are very similar to an analog and come with manual batteries.

Not only that the 901 or 510 cartridges hold a lot more juice and give better vaper and flavor.

    veritas88 and override -
I'm going to assume override's friend did not have a 510. You have to realize all pv's were not created equally. and while the 510 is not the utmost powerful PV on the market. IMO it's the most powerful that doesn't look like your holding a weapon or a Billy club. :) your going to find start hits for 50-60 bucks that incuilds 2 complete 510's charge and 5 carts. Make sure to pick out some juice on your first purchase trust me on this one. To top it all off watch plenty of videos on how to while you wait.
It's really not all that hard and it's also a great icebreaker. The trade off to this is it's not for everyone. I've had 2 out of 7 people give it up ASAP. but hey if you got 80 bucks to spend and it works you'll save a ton of cash and you'll breath a hell of a lot easier. Personally i like explaining it to people in bars and showing off my new toys to everyone as they ohhh and awww

P.S. you can't make new threads intill you make a couple more posts. it's to keep spamers out

Last piece of advice if you can buy it at the mall it's going to break before you get it home.

I was the same way when I was looking for my first e-cig. I wanted it to look and feel like an analog. The 510 is a great compromise and would definitely get the manual batteries and would also recommend a pass thru for in the car and at the computer if you decide you like it. The 510 is about the size of an analog and you will get used to the button very quickly. The auto has a cut off after a few seconds and the manual does not as far as I can tell. I have never reached a cut off anyway. One thing that you will discover if you stick with vaping for a while is that analogs taste like crap. You could just never taste it before.

Thanks for the flood of replies and advice everyone! I really appreciate it.

I've been perusing various online stores and I have officially decided on the Joye510. Unfortunately, a lot of the stores seem to be out of stock. NHaler has some in stock, but only in pink, and that doesn't sit well with my masculinity lol.

Libertyecig has black starter kits in stock for $50

(still can't post links yet :()

I was thinking on getting both manual batteries, one with a blue LED and the other with an orange LED, (for variety :)) the 5 ready-to-fill cartridges, and the AC charger.

I'd also probably go ahead and order my liquid from them. I'm not sure on what my nic dosage should be. I'm thinking I'll only need the "low" dosage (10-12 mg/ml). So I'm thinking of getting some PG-free low dose Myboro liquid for regular smoking. I'll also grab a couple other flavors... maybe a vanilla, and a peach.

Does anyone use the nic-free liquids, or mix it with other liquids? I want to try and lower my nic dosage over time without necessarily lowering the amount I vap. Does it still taste the same, just without the nicotine?

Does anyone know what the difference between the "TASTY" brand and the "Liberty" brand of the same names are, or which is better?

I also want to make sure this store is considered legitimate and trustworthy.

Thanks again for all the help guys. I really appreciate it.

I am not sure about liberty, I have never ordered from them. You might want to check the supplier list. As far as the no nic liquids, I just keep some vg and pg on hand to mix if I need to. Different suppliers sell it or you can get vg at the drug store. It does affect the flavor though. One of the hardest things for me is to find everything I need from one supplier.

Well I decided to go ahead and just take the plunge. :)

I ordered a Joye510 from Libertyecig.com I also picked up 3 flavors of juice: vanilla, banana, and apple. I got a 15ml 11mg/ml bottle of each, as well as a 15ml nic-free bottle of each. I plan to mix the same flavors together to give me juice with a nic dosage of only about 5mg/ml. My logic is that I'll probably want to use it often, and I don't want to increase my addiction.

All in all, it cost me a little less than $100 including shipping (which was completely free). I honestly can't wait for it to arrive next week! Thanks again for all the help you guys. I'll be sure to return the favor by posting my first impressions and my experiences to help out any other potential first time e-cig users.
