All,

I've been thinking about trying the rebuildable atomizer and scanning this forum for tips, but was wondering if any of you kind ladies and gents could recommend the most pain-free start up. I'm thinking about getting a nemesis clone mechanical, but for now, I hope my provari mini will do. I'm trying to avoid soldering or anything like that and I hear that the Sofia(?) is good? Unfortunately, I'm hearing that the Sofia comes with pieces that I should immediately replace with others? Can anyone direct me to some links? What sort of wicks, coils, cottons, ceramics, etc should I try?

What tools would I need? Any other products a better fit than the Sofia? Do I need drill bits to wrap coil around?

If you're looking for a tank RBA the RSST is a very user-friendly gadget. If you're looking at dripping the IGO-L is the best to learn on in my opinion.

A good ohm meter is a must but if you have a VV device that measures resistance that will suffice. If you're going the dripping route I recommend micro-coils and cotton. They're easy to make (check out the micro-coils thread) and a joy to vape. You can do micro-coils with tank setups but I've no experience in that area so I can advise.

RTD Vapor is a good place for hardware (it's where I get all mine). So, you'll probably want a couple of 1/16 drill bits for startes, a good pair of snips or finger-nail cutters, a pair of nice needle nose pliers, some sterile cotton. For tanks you'll need some mesh or silica (500 and 3mm respectively to start) although some folks have done well with cotton wicks in tanks (although it's a bit fiddly from what I've read).

Heres what I ended up getting. Nemesis with a kayfun lite. Not bad for a first RBA, 3rd try success. Its laying near a vamo, they both have 18650 batts in them so the nemesis is substantially smaller.

No matter how many times I see a Vamo, I could never vape one... It just looks like a robot face on it... I would always get the feeling it was watching me vaping it!!!8-o That would just really freak me out!!!

This is literally the setup I was going to tell the OP to get. That or the Kayfun Lite w/ airflow control clone.

The kayfun clone is more user friendly for a beginner than an RSST for a beginner. The kayfun won't leak when it isn't upright and the RSST will. The kayfun has a metal tank for tank cracker juices and the RSST is only plastic. The kayfun is as easy to build as a dripper, you just throw a wick and coil in there and it works like magic. The RSST is a genesis and requires torching ss mesh, getting rid of hot legs, getting rid of shorts, etc etc.

I'm not saying the RSST is bad, it's a great vape, but it isn't super newbie friendly and it's definitely more of an indoor only vape.

The nemesis clone is basically the best cheap mechanical and it's even better with switch magnets ($3.90 from dealextreme) and maybe a spacer in the switch. Both the RSST and the Kayfun look sweet as hell on it, especially the stainless steel version of the mod.

By the way they are both clones. The nemesis clone was 65 $ and the kayfun lite w/ airflow control clone was around 50 $. I ordered from smoke-evolution.com yeah I could have gotten cheaper from fasttech but theyre shipping is hella slow and ive had bad customer service in the past so id never order from them again.

Yeah I didnt get an RSST cause its known to leak and be an at home vape only...the hardest part with the RBA for me was working the kanthal...I dont have a blowtorch so it was pretty annyoing. But yeah at the end of the day the kayfun was not hard to learn at all an a hell of a nicer ulgrade

You can anneal your kanthal fairly easily with a lighter if you still have one laying around. I use one with all of my rebuilds and have had no problems at all. Just light the wire, and slowly follow the glow to the end. Easy peasy.

It depends on how the RSST is set up. I can lay mine down over night and no leaks... Do they leak, yes, if not setup and maintained properly, but so will any KF device!! I carry mine daily without any leakage. They also sell a SS tank for it that not only will handle any liquid you put in it, but it won't break if the device is dropped... More people than you think will tell you the RSST is the "easiest" genny type atty on the market to set up... It seems like every other post in all the KF related posts are about failed setups and leaking... I have read through several as I was thinking of getting one prior to the RSST.

Yes you are correct, they will leak as I pointed out above, but with the proper setup in them and maybe a little mod to them, this can be resolved... I carry mine daily and no leakage at all. As to needing to have a blowtorch, that is "very" incorrect!!! I have on several occasions used the stove in the kitchen to oxidize mesh and anneal my wire... It actually works better than a torch and more cost effective...
