I received my first Reo, a Mini 2.0 last Monday. Since I've been using it for almost a week, and *think* I am having an issue. Why do I feel like I need to mash the button to fire the atomizer? I've put Noalox on the metal that contacts the battery and it hasn't seemed to help much. I've tried several different attys thinking it could be those. I've tried not letting the batteries run down too far before replacing. I've searched and searched this forum for others that have had a similar problem and have tried various things.

Is there a learning curve? Is this normal behavior? Am I missing something important? I love my Reo, but really want to enjoy it hassle free. Please help!

Sounds like you may have some oxidation built up on the pin, give it a good filing (don't be shy about it :) ) then re-noalox it.

My pin isn't "perfectly" vertical, it's more of a 45 degree angle from the "arm"

ETA: It doesn't take much pressure to make contact, hold it up to your ear and press slowly, you'll hear when it starts to "sizzle". No need to press any harder.

The batteries are AW IMR 18490 3.7v 1100mAh bought from RTD Vapor. Having to file the pin every few days sounds kind of high maintenance to me. And, I don't mash the button (no topper) unless I feel I'm not getting good contact. I can hear the atty sizzle, but I still don't seem to get a good hit…and, again, it's with four different atomizers. I'll try to get my RM2 up and running over the next few days and hope that helps. Can I get wire at Lowes?

After a good cleaning a liberal application of noalox will keep it good working order until the next cleaning, You should be able to go a week or two at least. Some like to put a dab of noalox on the battery with each battery change.

Take the door off in a darkened room, press the fire button while looking at the top of the battery. If you see a little sparking you need to use more noalox. Also that sparking just created oxidation deposits so clean and file before apply the noalox.

I have seen sparks, but not every time. Wish I could find wire locally.
Yeap, then your problem is defiantly oxidation at the contact. Give it a really good filing and use noalox, If you cannot find noalox at your local home improvement store you can use dielectric grease from the auto parts store, they sell if for sparkplug wires.

I run coils at about 1.5-1.8 ohms, and only have to file "maybe" once a year. You can get a cheap multimeter at Harbor Freight or some such place, or one of those spiffy "atty testers" like this one. But you really should test your coil(s). Even if you used disposable attys/cartos, it's a good idea to test them. Bear in mind that even store bought atomizers aren't always what they're supposed to be, they could have a dead short, or be WAY off from what you ordered.

I can pretty well guarantee that once you've built your own coil, there's no going back to "store bought", the proper wire (28 or 30 gauge, Kanthal A-1) is cheap and quick to get (like this from amazon).

Are you using a button cover? If so then sometimes they move down and prevent your firing contact from touching the battery.

You can pull it off and put a little bit of paper inside then put it back on.
