Another way debit cards can mess you up is account blocking. Similar to what miss MIA is posting about. Some merchants will block large sums of your account to cover "potential" costs. Car rentals and hotels do this routinely to cover any damage you might cause to their property. The big culprit is gas stations and pay at the pump machines. You put in your debit card and the station checks to see if you have money in your account before it will turn on the pump. Since it doesn't know how much you plan to pump...it simply reserves (blocks) about $100. Now if you only pump $25....the other $75 will be blocked from use anywhere....for several days.

It's not actually the gas station that does that maxx... I just want to clarify this, because that might make people believe that people working at these gas stations would have some control over it. Please don't go into JoeBlow Gas Station and start yelling at the clerk/manager/owner about the fact that your debit card has a hold amount. To avoid these kinds of holds, all you have to do is prepay inside at the register the amount you want to get.

The amount 'held' is dictated by the contract that the brand of gas has with the supplier of credit card. Brand of gas meaning the following: Fina, ConocoPhillips, Shell, Exxon, Equilon, Texico, etc. Supplier of credit card means the following: Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, and Discover.

Just recently it has been standardized to be $75 for retail customers, and $500 for fleet vehicles.

Yes....I always enter credit. Visa will cover debit transactions to the same degree as credit transactions (fraud protection) provided the credit option is chosen. The downside is that Visa then charges the merchant for each "credit" transaction...thus inflating prices....

There is always an angle when financial institutions are involved..... ;)

Yes i just emailed them.

I ordered leafords sampler but got just 2 of the items that are supposed be with it...so i guess in theory i did receive 5 free cartridges but that is not what i ordered so am not very happy about it.

hmmmm leafords sampler....didn't see that one?!

<runs to look>

on another note ....something in this thread reminded me that I didn't specify PG or VG in my order comments.....hopefully it'll be be PG.

And I gotta say that this forum is one of several reasons I went with V4L. I like to see a healthy user base. I don't think I've seen any other quite like this. And I've seen no less than 3 folks who are or seem to be representives of the company active here....that's a good thing!

If you look at the supplier list, you will see (in parentheses) how many people are viewing that threat at any time. The 2 most popular and the newcomer's thread and the V4L thread.

Sorry, but

Aren't we sounding like a bunch of whining little ******* here? Jesus! This is a company on the grow, huge grow! They were a little hole in wall now all the sudden they have ten or better times the customer base and growing daily!
NO, they will not have the time to hold each and every one of our hands when we think we need them to. No, not every order will be perfect, but I know they are trying and will MORE than make it right. NO. they have new people and are running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying like hell to make all of us happy. No, they can't do it every time!
Guys, take a damn chill pill! They will mess up, we all do, it's human. You may not get all the freebies, GET OVER IT! Did you get what you paid for? Did you more than likely get more than you paid for without the freebies? This freebie stuff has really ...... me off! You get what you get! Do you get an extra $10 of gas at the service station? Do you get a free cart with every three at WalMart? Yeah, I didn't think so.
These guys are great, these guys go well above and beyond 99.99999% of the time and the time it slips they don't even know about it!
I've gotten a response from Mark and Steve with each email and PM I've sent. I've had Mark and Steve PM me asking specifics about posts I've made on here, wanting more information about my complaint or concern. I've exchanged emails with Leaford because he wasn't sure how to properly deal with quality control issues and wanted to use my knowledge to help improve things.
What more do you want and can you expect from a company? Really guys, chill out.
:Rant over:
I'd like to say sorry for those I've offended, but I'm not, it needed said!

Personally I want every bad experience posted to the forums...
Telling people to deal with the vendor 1 on 1 does not help out the community.
Sometimes it even feels like you just don't want it public that mistakes are being made.
You want it dealt with quietly.
I for one want to know who is messing up.
Yes you should contact the vendor, but I see no need to wait to post about any problem your having with a vendor.
A vendor fixing an error does not negate the error, it just proves they have good Customer Service.

When something from, let's say, Walmart is not like it should be when you get it home...you take it back. You don't take an ad out in the paper and let everyone know about it. It's just common decency to let the company try to get it right. Why start a whole hullabulloo over something that might be fixed quietly and efficiently. If it isn't, then post. :)

Any why do so many people expect free stuff with their orders? I don't get it! Yeah, it's nice when you get them but why would you expect them?

I myself am tired of people bashing people that have complaints and are trying to warn others of suppliers and products . If anyone should be telling us not to complain it should be the mods and everyone else just need to bite their tongues about it and stop being bossy about what others post about . I will express my complaints , if the mods think that it is not right then they should tell me and not everyone else . those that feel the need to bash my complaints will end up on my ignore list so I will not have to deal with them again .
