Been off the evil fags for 2 weeks now. Still cant bring myself to unleash the ego-t in public though!
Missing the gatherings of all the old smokers outside the pub now, I know its cold and smelly and people treat you like leppers, but it was a kind of club where we all met and moaned about how mistreated we all were.
Still go outside for a toot but get weird looks off the regulars who treat me as if ive "sold out"
now i'm outcast by smokers because i dont smoke and outcast by non-smokers who say i havent quit because i use an e-cig.
Sometimes no matter how hard you try you can never win.!!

Misery loves company. And when people see you are enjoying something, that they may not understand, they tend to shy away. I have the same problem, there is a group of guys in my department that I always went out to the smoking section with when working or going to class, and when I took my little blue and black smokestik out the other day, I just got strange looks. A few people asked, but you still get that "left-out" feeling for some odd reason.

Oh well, let them be, maybe they'll come around sometime.

I wouldnt worry about it much, you are better off in the long run, and once you start vaping in public, like indoors at the pub over a pint and a game of darts without needing to go outside, you will make heads turn and the smokers go .. hmmmm...

perception plays alot in this, but once you get over that fear of vaping in public hump , you will see what Im talking about. If all else fails, hang in there December 2012 is less than a year away! ;)

As a smoker, I remember being part of that gang. It's a defensive formation, to be honest. A dwindling battalion with its shield up against the anti-smoking legions. We kidded ourselves that we didn't care about the health risks, the expense and we upheld smokers rights with a passion.

As soon as we step out of that and try something new, we've basically defected to the "other side", even if the non-smokers won't let us join their gang either.

Never fear, though! I reckon that sooner or later, as it catches on and more and more people discover e-cigs, us vapers are going to become our own special ops group. vaping our way to freedom! :)

I took to public vaping like a duck in water. I've never had anybody berate me for it either. Every once in a while I get the "cough of disapproval" from a passerby, but I usually just chuckle at their ignorance. Anybody that's ever commented on it has usually been more curious than disapproving. Even all of my coworkers that I used to smoke with accept my new habit. I even got a nonsmoking friend into vaping. I didn't pressure him into or anything. He tried it and liked it, and now he vapes nic free liquid. If your friends condemn your vaping, they probably aren't very good friends.

I'd be surprised if some of your old gang don't convert to vaping! Give it time! There were 3 of us here at work that routinely went out for smokes together. Now...all 3 of us have jumped on the vape-wagon. Same group, just a new title! LOL Good luck and don't get discouraged! You're getting the best of both worlds and others will catch on too!

Cheers!

A decent number of people steered into large models to fill their needs end up buying something smaller for social.

Strongest slim model you can get is KR808D-1 and I recommend standard aka 78mm batteries (around 280mah, makes 120mm ecig). I also recommend manual batteries. I prefer the manuals at V4L.com that state they have a 10+ second cutoff (the rest of the KR808D-1 threaded slim models have 5 second cutoff). But you could also look at those - see the rubberized models at Bloogplanet/SmokelessImage/Halocigs G6, or the plain Kanger gold-button KR808D-1 (at a number of multi-brand ecig retailers).

KR808D-1 is 3.7v (which is higher than Ego at 3.4v) and the rubberized ones are 3.6v regulated and better sealed on the manuals. The cartos I like are V4L WOW cartos (hot on lips though - I use a plastic or delrin drip tip as mouthpiece) and the Bloogplanet/SmokelessImage carto (horizontal coil so cooler at lip end). Both are around 2.5-2.6 ohms.

You may also find your smoking buddies less antagonistic toward the slimmer model.

i was like that too at first but after a few people seen it they ask all the questions then they say either can you get me one or let me try. the last time i was out to the club there was the smokeing people out side smokeing and a group of vapers that were grouped together inside vapeing and talking. the smokers were out side in the freezing cold and the vapers were inside in the warmth, now who do you think looked like the smarter bunch. also the vapers wernt vaping first until i pulled mine out and started then one by one vapers started coming frome everywhere so i guess there are alot of people that are shy but when they see one person doing it they come around. i didnt even know there were even other vapers there

All of my smoker friends pretty much just shake their heads at me. I love their "you're just trading one addiction for another" argument. I've made a few attempts to explain to them that I'm not switching addictions, just doing it in a safer way, but they won't have it. I'm ok with it though, I've always been a turbonerd and ingesting nicotine through a machine really helps me feel more like a robot.(I have a massively deep voice which I tend to leave in monotone to throw people off my sarcasm, so my employees actually refer to me as Robot Boss) I hope everyone eventually makes the switch to vaping, but as we all know it's a personal journey, and no one can start it for you.
