I haven't posted in a long time and have been vaping for at least 7 years. I might pop in to read an article or interesting post, etc. I guess I'll just hit whoever reads this with it, so here goes.

7 months ago I was rear-ended buy a semi on the interstate. Traffic was being stopped by firemen and police and I was doing 1.5 mph (based on my vehicles black box) and the semi was going around 65 mph when it hit me. As you can imagine there was quite a bit of damage and catastrophic injury to me.

After I got home from the hospital the very first thing I wanted was a long pull on my Geekbox (not a sponsor) which I assure you is not a great idea after collapsed lungs. After working up to long pulls on my devices, it was very unsatisfying. I even have a pretty large collection of juices from multiple makers and flavor profiles. Everything tasted bad and I soon began smoking. This only made me feel worse about everything, but there I was buying packs of smokes and smoking them. I bought a very popular pod type vape device out of desperation and it worked. It was mildly flavored and had a decent throat hit.

I figured everything was now just overflavored for me and mixed a batch of 70/30 unflavored juice. It was good and I vape the hell out of it. I have been adding my NET into it slowly and my latest batch was a 60/40 with 5% NET (naturally extracted tobacco that I actually described in posts years ago). I still supplement with the pods and don't want to. Any thoughts on this would be great. I realize the accident changed my taste most likely and I just can't seem to figure it out. I want a throat hit that I never accounted for and who knows about flavor. Any suggestions would be great.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place and thanks.

Sorry on the accident and happy you're alive and home after that. It must have been awful.

If you're looking for throat hit the things that'll do it are obviously more nic, higher PG will also give you more TH, and while I'm not a fan a dash of menthol might help out.

The pod you used probably was/is a high nic salt pod. They can be like Juul and have 50 mg of nic salt. The salt thing makes the high nic bearable by reducing the throat hit, but still, with 50 mg there's still a hit.

Try the other things first. If you need to go high nic after reverting back to smoking you can play with nic salt juices and see if they help. They also can be found 50/50 PG/VG as they're commonly used in refillable pod systems.

I hope you continue to heal up, and I'm sure you'll find a new mix that works for you.

Thanks,

It is a juul that I use, I just didn't know if I could say it. And because I have had my whole thing set up for so long I'm only vaguely aware of nic salts. That is to say, I know they exist.

I've been on 3mg/ml of nic so long I haven't actually thought of raising it, but my guess is this juul pod is deceptively strong. I should start slowly raising that until it helps.

I have thought of going full 50/50 on my juice because I give a rat's behind about clouds.

Life was complicated enough without all this. The good thing is I've lost 50 lbs., of course more symptomatic than anything I tried to do.

Helluva way to lose the weight. Sure, Juul is regularly discussed around here. Even recommended to some looking for an easy start without a commitment of lots of money up front.

Yeah, it sounds like 3 mg isn't going to do it. Just raise it right up. If it's too much it's easy to dilute back down. You'll get back to your normal vaping habits in a few months, but all things considered, don't be hard on yourself about this.

Thank you very much. I do need to play around a little more apparently. I just get frustrated by the whole thing. This one thing could have been left alone for me. What I considered my harmless little vice that I enjoyed and made a little hobby that actually had nothing to do with the wreck. Grrrrr. I'm rambling and ranting and I can get a bit verbose so I'll just say thanks again.

I agree that raising nic would be a good place to start. Just be aware that as you do TH is also going to increase. If you reach a point where the the TH is too much but you still need to raise nic level, this is where the salts would come into play.

Nice to you as well @AXIOM_1. It's been awhile. I am going to mix a new batch tonight maybe even 50/50. The flavor thing really pisses me off. But unflavored is actually really good if you've never tried it.

Of course, I'm relying on my messed up taste buds as judgement lol

well, the way I see it, is that if you can get a good throat/nose hit and get satisfaction then that is what counts.... I hope you can stay off of the tobacco.

You're exactly right and that was my goal starting the juul. It's just that 4 of those things are $18 and need to be able to find a cheaper alternative. I still supplement my normal vape box with it rather than the smokes. I want to get back to my cheap simple vaping hobby rather than I still feel like I'm fighting off the cigarettes.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about the PG/VG ratio if I were you... I know members here who vape with 65% PG and only 35% VG.... They love a STRONG vape with a strong throat hit.... You just have to experiment around and you will find the vape that ultimately satisfies you..... I am the opposite as I like lots of VG in comparison to PG.... Different strokes for different folks …. I do have to use some PG however otherwise I wouldn't have any type of a throat hit and I would not like that too much.

First off, I'm so terribly sorry about your ordeal and I'm glad you're on the mend. You've been through a very traumatic event so you really need to give your body and mind plenty of time to heal. It won't happen overnight. Don't rush it. Vaping is fun, but it's not your first priority ATM. I'm sure your taste buds and your brain will eventually realign and you'll find your sweet spot again.

Not sure how to help you. If the old stuff in not working, maybe try something new. If it's TH you're missing, more PG, more nicotine will work; a drop of cool peppermint or spearmint may do the trick, a touch of cinnamon to tickle your taste buds, or some (tiny) amount of alcohol. The idea to go unflavored for a change of pace is also a good one--a palate cleanser. You'll just have to experiment.

    Good luck and welcome back!

I started on Vuse. Didn't know anything about the concentration at the time until I starred looking at alternatives and discovered it was 48 mg nic. I tried one about a year after changing over to "real" vape gear and was down to around 12 mg. Boy that thing made Jr dizzy and tasted nasty. Still, it is was got me to stop smoking.

Thanks so much for the suggestions and comments. Yes, @Katya, All my Docs tell me this about realigning my brain. You hit it right on the head actually. I just went to an eye doctor and my eyes aren't even focusing, at least the left one. This is exactly what they tell me. Everything needs to get back in order.

I have to also admit I had no idea that Juuls were that strong. Makes sense, but no idea. Wow (as I slowly reach for the juul grrrrrr).

    Ahem... 70/30 here. :D

I think I'm going to head in this direction and maybe try a 5mg/ml nic mixture. And hopefully curb my juul dependence. God bless them too, it got me out of a very rough time, I just don't really feel the need to further contribute to their wealth

if you use a longer narrower drip tip it helps to increase TH.. You can buy after market tips and change them out, just get the longer narrower ones..

There are atomizers I can't use because they are designed to intensify TH, (My throat is pretty tore up from smoking) so you may consider going back to old school equipment like the older Kayfuns..

along with the higher pg and nic this should help..
