Hello All,
I wanted to let everyone know that I decided to vape after quitting real cigs in February this year. As noted in my earlier posts, I was reluctant to start vaping since I had worked really hard to quit smoking. I am using only no nic juice and am doing pretty good. No flipping out going without like in my old smoking days. I vape occasionally and feel that I can start or stop when I want to. Much more in control than with analogs. Analog, that term is so funny to me. I will go for weeks without vaping which was unheard of during my smoking days. I smoked for 30 some years.
Just wanted to share this.

Glad you're going with the 0 nic juice, I'd be interested to know what would happen to someone who has become completely nicotine free when vaping something with nicotine in it but wouldn't want to try it or ask someone else to.

I think the great thing about e-cigs is that after time you can taper off of nicotine without even trying because of the many flavors. I've found a couple 12mg favorites that I now prefer way more than the 48mg stuff I ordered just to get my fix. I haven't tried any 0 nic stuff yet but I'm sure I'll get there soon enough.

Thanks for sharing!

I quit smoking for a month before I started vaping. I now use nic occasionally. Normally I go no-nic as a pacifier, but when I get intense cravings, I'll add a cartridge with some nic (usually 11-18mg) and have a few puffs of that. I missed the physical act of smoking, and the feeling of smoke hitting my throat (throat hit?). So while the no nic works sometimes, the low-medium works best for me to keep me off analogs when the craving is intense. I am considering using low nic throughout the day to keep the cravings away. Still contemplating it....

I wish that I had e-cig a couple months ago. I had quit smoking for about 6 months using celexa (after 3 attempts) and eventualy broke down and bought anolgues while I was laid off.

The worst cravings are while having a couple of drinks. This just seems like the next best thing and I enjoy the stimmulation from the nicotine more so than I ever did from analoges.

Anybody who gave up smoking the hard way deserves respect! :)

I couldn't even go cold turkey for an hour when I was a smoker...the mere thought of it was horrific! :(

If a few ex-smokers wish to take up vaping to help the cravings, then even better (no nic or low nic...both are better than smoking IMO).

.

Cold turkey is easy when you have asthma and bronchitis! I couldn't breathe, much less smoke for a week! Besides, getting bronchitis in September pretty much meant if I didn't do something I would have bronchitis until May. September to May is a long time and weekly breathing treatments are no fun!

I am vaping and using analogs trying to taper off. It seems to be working but still get a little edgy thinking about not having an analog especially in the morning when I first wake up and after work. I have cut down from a pack a day to about 1/2 a pack now most of my smoking is done in the am and then vaping towards noon on. I just can quite get myself to completely put down the analogs yet.

I smoked for a while, mainly because I love nicotine along with a few select other chemicals you'd expect a college student to experiment with. (if only i knew of a way to use the most obvious one in my PV, I'd be combustion free in my past times..)

I quit cigs 3 times cold turkey, each for 6 months or more at a time, but each time I started again, it was a true conscious decision. But I have to say, if you're vaping with 0 nic juice, I have to give you a lot of credit, its tough denying yourself nicotine if you've already come to enjoy it.

Keep up the good work!

I still don't get that morning nic buzz I used to on my PV, but I haven't craved a cigarette itself since I started vaping. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, or not vaping to the extent of a cigarette per session, but I'm still enjoying it.

Good luck kicking the analogs, it's worth it. It's only a week and I can smell/taste/breathe much better. That, and your breath/mouth will feel so much better.

What I find curius is someone quitting ananlogs and then taking up vaping some period of time down the road. I am interested in why the OP made this decision.

Addiction to tobacco is complex. It may be about the nicotine, the chemical additives to tobacco and/or the physical aspects of smoking. I qas able to leave analogs behind over 9 months ago with vaping.

Recently, I became interested in testing whether I quit because I was getting my nicotine fix or whether I was getting my smoking fix (i.e. inhaling and exhaling vapor, holding a device, etc.), or both. I recently began using nasal snuff for nicotine delivery and noting my vaping habits. My experiment is much too early to make a basic determination.

Not sure about you, but I've quit smoking in the past, and it never held. So going to vaping instead of relapsing back to analogs sounds like a good plan, especially since there's the no-nic option which will just give that oral fix and not get you re-addicted.

I went cold turkey for just over 11 months. I started vaping with 0nic juice because I just knew I was going to break down a buy a pack. It was strange, I was fine in the morning and would go all day at work and rarely even think about a cigarette. The evenings however.... man, I found them really tough. Vaping has allowed me to satisfy that physical act and, bonus, I've started to loose some of those 20 lbs I gained during those months not smoking. I'm still at 0 nic primarily because I scared to death of getting hooked again.
I'm not suggesting that if you've successfully quit for a period of time that you embrace this hobby but, for this 20 year smoker it has been just the ticket.

I was like that too. I would squeeze 3 cigarettes into a 10 minute break if I knew I wouldn't be able to have another for a couple hours.

Do you ever get like that with vaping?

I was just the same way, I never had nic fit before cause I was a chain smoker and didnt allow myself to go that long! Now, after not even two weeks, I can go hours without vaping and not even think about. As soon as I feel that twitch, I just grab my 510 and I am good :). But of course, in front of the computer is a different story, there I puff pretty much nonstop, as much as my attys will let me. I am on 12mg and planning on cutting down more with my next juice order.

Yeah I'm right there with you. Initially I was down to just 2 cigs a day after starting vaping (down from a pack) and now after 2 weeks it's starting to creep back up to 4, 5, 6...sigh. I've got one analog left and it will be smoked tonight. When that's gone I'm going to try to hold out and not buy anymore. We'll see how that works out. I'm using a 24mg juice...so it's obviously not the nicotine that I'm craving. I just can't seem to say goodbye to the nasty old things.

Vaping has allowed me to continue the ritualistic aspect of smoking which I enjoyed and missed. I also love seeing the smoke...I mean vapor coming out of my mouth. Other than that, I can’t think of any other reason why I started vaping. I am glad that the nicotine is gone and that I don’t have to go through that withdrawal feeling any longer.
