I think post #10 sums it up very well. I was able to just lay my analogs down and quit cold turkey, and quit for as much as 5 years at a time. My wife always smoked, so they were always available and it was always that stressful situation that made me pick one up and start all over again.

When I discovered these new fangled ecigarettes, I liked the idea and latched on to them very easily. Even got my wife to switch. Thing is, we both went for a few days analog-free, and then picked up one of the old style. They taste terrible, and almost made me sick, but I still like them a little. There's something about that dizzy feeling I get when I haven't had a cigarette for a while.

I'm using a more vapeful device now, and I think I can finally say I don't want a cigarette anymore. I've found a few flavors I like and that helps. I thought I wouldn't like any flavors other than the tobacco flavors, but found I really like RedHots sample I got, and will probably find many more. Just like when smoking analogs, it takes a while to find just the right version of brand, strength, device, etc. that satisfies you completely.

I've spent a small fortune so far on something I hoped would be a cheap alternative to analogs. Some will have to go through the same process and expense while others may strike it rich on their first device and juice. I've got my taste back to some degree, and my lungs are much clearer.

Keep searching and you will find your style.

I'd just like to say thank you so much for all the replies, I never expected such a response, I will try and answer some of the questions asked of me.
No, it's not a Twist battery, just a standard manual battery. I will look for the trial/sample packs of juice and purchase some; I have a feeling I may have to get extra clearomisers as I am unsure how to clean the one I have effectively. I have noticed the flavour of my current one seems to taste almost burnt as it gets towards the bottom of the tank.
I really don't intend to smoke another cigarette unless the craving becomes too much, I don't want to reset my chemical craving and have to go through it all over again, but yes I agree, it is damn hard sometimes.
Thank you to those members who told me that the amount of liquid I had used so far was quite low. Tbh, I had no idea whether I was using too much or not. I may well change my equipment over time and try different models and types but this one produces vapour at the moment so will stick with it.
I had tried a couple of disposables 2 years ago but they didn't come anywhere near to reducing my smoking and hadn't re-looked into the subject until i saw this model at a reasonable price, plus I had watched a certain gentleman on you tube who has done hundreds of ecig reviews, so in the end, here I am.
Again thank you for the help and support, I really needed it, I was close to sacking it off but now I will continue with renewed vigor; you will no doubt see me on here seeking advice about all manner of related eciggigness!

I have quit now for 2 weeks and it has gotten a lot better but first thing in the mornings when I am having that 1st cup of coffee is still hard. I have quit smoking several times over the last 10 years but I feel this time it will finally be for go. Having something that is so close to my old habit is helping greatly.

Just another tip before I retire for bed. Once you receive some sample juices to try, you're going to need something other than your main juice attachments to sample them. Some flavors are so strong that you can't remove them from cleaning, so its best not to use your everyday clearomizers for testing.

I have found the small ce3s to be excellent for this. Many companies call these by different names, so I will include some pics so that when you find a European vendor, you will know what to look for.

ce2.jpgce3.JPGce2-1.jpg

These are sort of a hybrid between a tiny clearomizer and cartomizer. They only hold around 1 ml of juice, but that is all that you need to sample a flavor. The best thing about them is that they are very re-usable. Any juice that you don't use, just remove it, rinse the ce3, and refill with the next flavor. They are relatively cheap, also. $10 for a pack of 5 usually. The earlier versions of these required using an included needle and syringe, but there are newer version coming out that don't require that.

My words to you would be mostly, don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure it's already been mentioned you're detoxing off of many, many chemicals. Once upon a time I remember reading tobacco companies put antidepressants into the tobacco! Can you imagine??

In comparison to cold turkey using e-ciggs is much easier for some people. It can still be very difficult for many. I stopped smoking 2 days after a traumatic issue with my quick stop lady telling me "Just smoke it" when I tried to return an unopened pack of cigarettes. My mother, a 40 year smoker on the other hand gradually stopped. It took her about a month to finally stop smoking. The longer you've smoked the more time it can take. If the urge is that bad on you then have one. Over time you may very well find, like many of us that you end up preferring to vape your e-cigg than smoke. There's such a variety of flavor. You've made a good choice in trying new flavors beyond tobacco. You may be very surprised in what you like. Don't give up and relax. Try not to think of it so much as quitting smoking, but rather switching to an alternative all the while gaining a new hobby to keep your mind preoccupied in the process.

Ok, it's been 8 days since I smoked my last cigarette and started using my e-cig. I have been a 30 a day smoker for 23 years and I decided I wanted to quit for health reasons, fact is I liked smoking.
So I bought a Vision eGo with a clearomiser (i think that's what its called), it came with a 10ml bottle of 20mg tobacco tasting eliquid (70% PG/30% VG) and i've used about half the bottle so far.

So, even though i'm vaping, i'm still craving cigarettes and I don't know why. I'm getting plenty of nicotine so why do I still crave? Also, I don't appear to have started coughing yet or having any of the smoking cessation repercussions that I have seen mentioned, so I don't know what is going on there.

Finally I have decided to try a flavour of liquid that isn't tobacco. I would be interested if anyone has tried liquid from the company Delectable vapours and what they thought of it, I bought the flavour Green Cow.

Any comments appreciated.

Just change your daily routine while you where in Analogs. It worked for me and it should work for anyone...:vapor:

I have noticed the flavour of my current one seems to taste almost burnt as it gets towards the bottom of the tank.

I'm quite happily using a standard eGo-C (which is either the same or pretty close to what you're using by the sound of it). I'm eyeing the Twist, but that's just because I want one. This worked just fine for me. You can always go better, but there's plenty of time for that :)

I did want to offer a couple pieces of advice - are you tipping and twisting your PV as you use it? As your juice level drops, the wicks can't reach it, and you need to make sure they stay wet. It sounds like you might be getting a dry hit, although those are the calmest terms I've ever heard them described in. They can be right nasty.

I was deep into work just a couple days ago, and forgot to make sure the wicks were wet. I got a really nasty burning flavour, and it was harsh on the throat. Worse, the flavour got into my clearomizer. Everything tasted burnt after that.

Fortunately, they're pretty easy to clean. There are different methods, but for simplicity, I usually just give it a good long rinse in warm water, maybe let it soak overnight and then give it a day to dry out. When impatient, I've used a hair dryer to accelerate the process. It may require a fair bit of rinsing to get rid of that burnt taste. Make sure it's good and try before using.

There are other methods that are more effective, but it sounds like this is your only clearo, so treat it with kid gloves. I would definitely recommend getting backups.

As others have said, if you really have to have a cig, have it. I'm convinced that a big part of my success was not putting too much pressure on myself. That and vaping a strong 36mg juice with my morning coffee :) I vaped a lot in the first couple of weeks to get myself through. Most important thing is to get through the initial phase and get used to vaping instead of smoking.

Finally, there's a UK forum. They may be able to help you more with vendors. I think it's 5 posts on the newbie forum, and then you can post elsewhere.

Good luck, and if you have questions, ask! This community helped me a lot getting started.

I started vaping and kept smoking for about a month before it finally clicked. Found the juice I liked, the tank that I liked, and suddenly, I was enjoying vaping more then smoking. Hard as it was to let go, I knew I had to make a choice-fact was, I found vaping and everything about it more fun, so bye-bye smokes. It will happen when you decide yourself that you get what you needed from cigs when you vape. Welcome!

MP2012 First off want to say welcome to ECF and to a life of vaping :) Its a great health choice. I will also say that no one will judge you if you find you still need an analog here and there when that craving hits and just wont stop but I would advise like everyone else that you vape first when that craving hits for a good 15 minutes or so because of the way of delivery of nicotine with our devices it takes a bit longer for the nicotine to hit the blood stream. Also I quit smoking 3 years ago cold turkey had no idea what an e-cig was at that time I used patches for the first week but they caused me extreme skin conditions so I had to stop using them. The first couple of weeks was awful but it did get much easier. I just started vaping in February because I was at the store to pick up a pack of the analogs and start smoking again. While I was in line the person ahead of me had picked up a Blu disposable and I asked the cashier about them and ended up getting on of those instead of a pack of cigs very glad I did that now.

Also just wanted to add that they say when quitting smoking the power of 3 goes into to play 3days is a little easier 3 weeks 3 months 3 years, I dont know how true that is but with me when I quit cold turkey it did seem to hold true. But they also say once a smoker always a smoker that no matter how much time has gone by that you can still get a craving. Me I had a personal issue come up I was upset and depressed and stressed that was what was going to cause me to start again... However vaping has saved me from picking up the stinkies again.

It does take some time and a little bit of cash in the beginning but I think it is well worth it. As people have already mentioned there are a bunch of vendors that offer sample packs best way to find those flavors that you will like with out spending a lot on 15-30ml bottles that end up not being used.

And again congrats on the 8 days stinky free. Thats a great accomplishment. Stick with it and I am sure you will find those juices you like that will help you even more. And in just a little time you will be feeling much better and your taste and smell will return. Everyone is different so it may take a little more time for these changes to take place for you then for some but they will happen.

Again Welcome to ECF and don't hesitate to ask your questions everyone here is very friendly and very helpful.

Because vaping and smoking are completely different. Because there is way more to an addiction you had for decades than just nicotine delivery.

Brain studies show it takes time to wear a new pathway which will become a "habit". Give it some time. You will gradually start to move over. :)

Congrats on your 8 days. I too had a rough week or two when I first went to the e-cig full time. I just chain vaped left and right. Now I just chain vape when I want to. I'm using 24mg and go through about 4-6ml a day. I know I've had too much when I start shaking, get an upset stomach, and/or get a head ache. Then I just don't vape for a while.

If someone hasn't already mentioned it, you might want to pick up a dripping atomizer and a drip tip. Makes tasting new flavors easier as you don't have to fill your clearo just to find out you don't like the juice. I'm using a low resistance 306 with a cheap plastic drip tip. Finding the right juice is definitely hard. I have probably 10 flavors (that's nothing compared to some people) I hate sitting in a box for my brother when he starts vaping. Luckily i found an all day vape pretty quick. Finding a secondary flavor is still illusive. Try flavors you think you might not like too. If it wasn't for a vendor sending a free sample of blueberry I never would've known I liked it.

Good luck and keep us posted.

When I first 'quit' and started vaping I buckled on day 5 and had an analogue. I really beat myself up about it but quit again and this time it's been remarkably easier.

I realise I'm chiming in late in the thread and you probably have this info but not everyone coughs up gunk. I'm on day 24 and just get a sore throat that I have to clear often.

If you have to have a ciggie, have one. You'll be surprised its not all its cracked up to be. I had my 'last cigarette' all planned out and I absent mindedly put it out when there was 1/3 left! Physically I didn't want it - it's all psychological... :)

Good luck !!!

Another good few suggestions overnight, this forum is such a help mechanism in itself!

As has already been mentioned, a dripping atomiser is a great idea for testing flavours, and rebuildable clearos look like a great solution for carrying a few choice flavours. If you get samples, and maybe some you just dont like, try steeping them for a while. There are a number of threads about steeping on here, and I'll now be steeping pretty much every juice I get. I got cookie flavour in my sample pack and was really looking forward to it, but it just didn't taste that good. So it's currently steeping away, and I'll give it another try in a week or so.

At first I was having cravings also. What you need to do it get lots and lots of samples from different suppliers. Once you find that flavor you really really love all you will crave from then on is more vaping. I have 75 bottles of different juices sitting around and most are just ok or bad. Then I got samples from HHV and love almost everything I got from them. This is not an advertisement for them but rather a "I found my juice style" statement. I no longer crave anything but my EGO an Vivi Nova now.

I was reading this thread and it made me think of how I started. I was a 3 pack a day smoker, my Boss Lady was always hammering at me to quit, as was my Doctor. I decided to try an e-cig since the patches and gum didn't help me at all.
Like a lot of people, I started out on the skinnys, then went to the E-Go 900 Mah and eventually went to a VV. I did the atomizers, cartomizers, tanks, re-building what I could, re-buildables, the whole nine yards.
At first, I was jonesing for a real cig but I stuck with it. It only took me 3 weeks to come off the analogs for good. And I love it. Food taste better, I don't wheeze and cough any more. My clothes smell a whole lot better and most important of all, The Boss Lady is happy. And we all know how important that is.
The main point I'm trying to make, is stick with it. No one has ever had an easy time giving up smoking. But ask for help, either here, loved ones, family or where ever you can find it. Nobody will fault you for at least trying.

I will admit that during my smoking days I used to freak out when my chest hurt or I could no longer run up the stairs without having what felt like an asthma attack. Even worse was hearing myself wheezing away at night when going to sleep. So far, I've noticed the wheezing has stopped, interestingly the bad acid reflux I have been suffering with everyday for the last 6 months has gone as well, how odd.
It seems that 2 years ago, you bought either an ecig that looked like a massive cigarette or some slim thing with a blue light on the end and that was your lot. Now there are drip tips an clearos, atomisers and yaggady shmaggadys and my god am i lost. I feel that I will be reading this forum for the rest of my life!!
I'm not in a position financially to spend loads on buying vaping equipment, this was supposed to be cheaper lmao. But i will despair not, I will look into buying some ce3's as I can see that they will be useful. My eGo 900 battery lasts quite a long time but the vapour production does seem to dwindle after a while. 9 days in now and thank you to you all or have said when I get cravings to vape hardcore, that does really help. I'm looking forward to be able to go mountain walking again without feeling like i need to take an asthma inhaler with me!
