Sweet dreams Fran :)

Tracy, my black with blue splash leaks a tiny bit of air around where the glass is formed to the stem. It's not bad, but I will likely put a food safe bead of sealant around it. It's funny that I hated the wide bores so much, but now I have a hard time using a normal tip.

And OMG!! Our neighborhood skunk must be out carousing around the house!!

There is a special shrub/bush growing at my Dad's house. It is a fragrant viburnum bush and my Dad bought it for my Grandmother for Mothers day many years ago. He had a heck of a time locating one and traveled quite a distance to get it I remember. My Grammy and I loved the smell of those blooms! Just a few flowers in a vase and the whole room smelled wonderful! It blooms for a short time each Mothers Day.

I asked my Dad what it would take to get a cutting going from that bush for my yard. If anyone could do it, my Dad could! Sadly, things always got in the way and I never did get my cutting........but I'm going to! I printed out exactly what to do and how/when to do it. The time is drawing near and will come to a close in June. I'm a bit nervous as I do not know if the bank has taken over the house by now, but I'm going for it anyway.

Once I have these "clippings" it'll take some time and patience (Lord help me), but hopefully I'll have a little fragrant viburnum bush in my yard by summers end. Not just any bush, but a piece of a very special bush that my Dad bought for his Mother many years ago. <3 Wish me luck?!?

I can see the headlines now, "woman is arrested for trespassing and theft of bush branches". If that happens, send 5C and ElDee please? Lol  :)

Tracy, that is funny! My son started buying me plants for Mothers Day when he was 3 years old ( with dads help) those plants could not be killed! They always grew like crazy. No matter what he got for me. Sadly, they are all back in Charleston now. I ride by the old house each time we are there and the new owners still has them growing strong though :)

Glad to hear that everyone is finally well there. darn, it is 12:23 AM here and 75 degrees. Hopefully you guys will warm up soon.

Some plants root easily and some don't....

Check some rooting or cloning videos out....

I'd suggest a rooting mix for the soil and some cloning powder or gel....Fox Farm's Light Warrior is a good mix and I use Clonex gel....

I've read cuttings should be taken from lower branches as they have more carbohydrates and root easier....YMMV on that.....I've seen no difference in the location of the cutting....

An 8 inch cutting from a Gardenia will root in a jar of water.....Not all plants will root like that but I'd try it....

Usually I look at the growing shoot and try and find some green wood that transitions into brown or older wood....I like @ 1/4 +- the length of the cutting to be brown wood....I strip my leaves with a sharp razor blade and do a diagonal cut on the root end....Only leave one set big leaves on top and whatever smaller leaves coming from the tip..Then I dip in the clonex and insert them in a punched with a wooden rod hole...I use the jar method as well....Some plants simply will not root for me but if it came from a nursery chances are better than good it was a clone at one time....Try different lengths of cuttings as well....Each plant does have a magic spot where rooting will be more successful....

Thanks everyone! I wish I could take the whole thing Wharf (Bo offered to dig the whole thing out) BUT it's grown to the height of the second story deck! Ack!

I am very cautiously hopeful about my attempts being successful. If it works, I will bet that my Dad had a hand in it from above. :)

Good luck for sure, my wife and i both kill any plant we touch.
