All I can say is what a unique experience... as brutal as the weather was, we loved every minute of it.
Once we got off the plane and got our luggage, I had to go to the post office to pick up a WiFi hotspot and then to the rail station in the airport. I headed off to the post office. I talked to a couple workers there and they had no idea where the post office was, I thought sheet, I got eight days of this I’m not gonna be able to find anything. Luckily that was the last time I felt lost.
I got the hotspot and the rail passes and headed to the bus to the hotel. We missed the bus and had to wait an hour and a half. We ended up taking a taxi to drop this off regular hotel. We got out of the car and the doors opened up and Kia came running out. Much hugs and kisses were had.
The next day Mrs Wharf and I, with a lot of help, made our way to Osaka Castle. While walking to the castle I heard this strange sound and asked Mrs Wharf what that was? Although I know what Ccicadas are (by a Grateful Dead song) I never heard them before and there had to be thousands of them. I thought it was kind of beautiful.
We spent a half a day in Tokyo and then spent the next day at Universal Studios Japan.
Next two days we spent in Kyoto, definitely our favorite part. The first day we went to the Kyoto Bamboo Forest and the second day to the 1000 Gates (our favorite).
Halfway up the mountain I realize I don’t have my phone and I was freaked out. When we got back to the train station we went to information in this gentleman started making calls, I thought it was gone for good. After a lot of calls they found my phone. I sent the two girls home and traveled 25 miles in the opposite direction. The rail station there was more of a hut and the guy says this is your phone?
I was floored that someone turned it in. Have a good friend that was born in Japan and I told him the story and he said well of course, it’s not theirs!!!
What a concept!!!
All in all I could spend a month there. The people were so nice and so helpful, we truly loved it !!!
