Just got my new Nova tank , v2, and i had read enough positive reviews to warrant a purchase.
Got it today and am using it on my new rev3. Im using the 2.4 ohm at 4 volts. I am getting constant dry hits. I will drip on the top and ill get 2-3 good hits and then its back to dry hits.

has anyone tweaked it at all to get this thing performing any better? The V2 has very short wicks and Ive tried adjusting the wicks, coil, silicone tip , and nothing has worked. All Ive seen is people who have rewicked it, but i dont really want to have to do that.

Has anyone tried to trim the silicone cover slightly to let in more juice? The wicks are saturated on the outside but Im obviously getting dry hits . When I do get a good hit its pretty good.

Hopefully somebody can lend advice, I REALLY dont want to have to go back to my old EMDCC.

The original Vivi Nova had long wicks, and worked great if trimmed to 3/8 -- 1/2". I trimmed mine, and have never had a dry hit from it.....still using the original 2.4 head. Some vendors got a V2 with short wicks. GV now has the V2.5 which has the long wicks, giving you the option for wick length.

With the 2.4ohm head turn the voltage down. I run mine in the 3.4-3.5v range. All those voltage/ohm ratios that we are use to go out the window with Vivi Nova or Stardust type devices. They are not Boge cartos.
I got a Vivi Nova yesterday and discovered the same thing. I put on the 2.8 ohm head and have been up using it at 3.7 volts most of the time, 3.8 volts max.

I've been re-coiling and re-wicking mine, so my tweaks aren't rlevant if you're not wanting to dissect it. It entailed drilling the slot where the wick passes the wall of the head. I also drilled the head's center/positive pin to open it some for increased airflow. Changing to cotton wick helped the flavor production, too.

I'd suggest investing in some nichrome or Kanthal wire and give it a shot. It's really not too hard to get this thing in a lot better operational condition.

I tried the 2.8 ohm and that was way worse, couldn't get 1 decent hit from it. So I washed the 2.4 well, and put that one back in. Primed it with some fluid and ... I got several good hits. I thought it had decided to work. After those couple good hits it went back to that disgusting flavor. Tried leaving it upside down for awhile, and got 1 -2 good hits and then horrible.

I think I may try rebuilding it. I really want this thing to work, Im so sick of the taste of carts but I want something that I can fill it and forget it ( love to vape when I'm driving)

@Dougie - I know I have seen people get there wire off ebay, which is fine by me, but where do you get your wicking material? Is it something I have to order online or is there something that I can use at a fabric store? And exactly what wire do i want to use? Resistance heating wire?
I have seen someone talk about drilling the bottom of the wick slots but do you think thats necessary?

Im wondering if the stock coils are just wrapped too tight and are choking the wicking ability.

As far as my wick, I found a roll of cotton yarn/string in a drawer. The boys used it for bracelets in Scouts years ago. I guess it came from the craft store or they ordered it online.

Yes, the wire is resistance heating wire. Mine is 36gauge nichrome. Quite a few prefer Kanthal. I just haven't bought any, but will try the Kanthal soon.

Re-wicking may be the way you have to go on this one, or fluffing the existing wick out.

I have been using mine for 3 days with the 2.8ohm head on Vtube at 4.5 to 4.7V. I found that if the juice gets low in the tank I occasionally get a dry hit but if I turn it upside down even for a second it's fine. I also vape with my PV tilted a little bit upwards so that probably helps too.

I am going to play with the 1.8ohm head tomorrow and try the cotton wick idea and re-coil it to around 3.0ohms and see what happens.

I know, I have posted concerns with how my anticipated Vivi Nova 2.5 was going to vape, well, I now have it. Here's my take for anyone interested from someone who had no experience with the first two revisions -

- The packaging looks just like the previous reviews. No markings of it being a rev 2.5
- Came with 2.0 ohm atty head pre-installed, so I left it on.
- Filled the tank with 2 ml of a 50/50 juice I like and vape frequently so I was familiar with the taste.
- Let it sit for about 5 minutes. The wicks looked like they were working and appeared saturated.
- On my Provari, the resistance read 3.0 ohms. Hmm...
- Dropped the voltage to 3.7 V and took a short vape. No burnt or metallic flavor, no gurgling, quieter vaporizing, surprisingly good vapor production for a short vape, The taste is different than I get with Boge carto's in a DCT. Not bad, just different
- A harder draw than I prefer, but not as awful as I was worried it would have. Maybe a little adjustment or modding can improve this.
- Draw 2 and 3, same 3.7 V, again no burnt or metallic flavor. So far so good.
- Upped to 3.8 V and still good, a little warmth coming through. Damn, I wish the draw was just a little bit looser.
- 4.0 to 4.2 V. This thing vaporizes almost silently compared to a carto. Getting more vapor as I increase voltage. All is well.
- Getting a nice, subtle after taste from my juice. Don't remember that before.
- 4.4 V. Something changed, a bit of a metallic taste I've never had before.
- Back to 4.2 V. A little better.
- Back to 4.1 V. Can't tell much difference. Down to 4.0. I think I like 4.1 better. Ok, I think I've dialed it in for my taste.
- Would have expected to like it in the mid to high 4 V range based on the resistance. Oh the resistance is now reading 2.8 ohms
- I plan to keep experimenting with voltage settings but overall, this is proving to a better experience than I expected.

Guess I've said more than enough now. A few questions for those that have more time with this-

- What changes can I expect over time with this? Do things change much after a tank or 3?
- I didn't wash anything before I filled it and started vaping. Should I have? If so, is it too late now?
- What voltages for this resistance are you finding to be the best for flavor and vapor?
- How long can I expect the atty head to last? I expect the answer will have a juice dependency but any guesses?

I can confirm on the V2 re-wicking the coils with cotton improves the flavor and speed of wicking. I used 100% cotton gauze, looks a bit like cheesecloth. Cut a strip and twist it tight enough to fit through the coil, it will unwrap itself, trim so it's long enough to just touch the sides of the tank.

It seems the shorter wicks seem to give the juice (mine's 50/50) a shorter distance to travel to get to the coil, where the action is...:)o
