Hmm, being an AZ local myself, you get that at Zikwid or other vape shop here? If the bottom unscrews off that CE4, then you can look at replacing just the coil head, as that would mean it is the upgraded version of the CE4, if not, which Zikwid are notorious for selling to new vapers is the older CE4's which were use till dead, then toss them. Let me know, I can try to direct you to a couple of other vape Shops here in the valley within your area.

Oh cool - a local! I bought this mess at Zerona in Moon Valley, just because it happens to be close to home. It is a "smoke shop" as opposed to a vape shop, so obv has a very limited selection. My thinking was - buy whatever they have now and keep from buying any analogs - upgrade to a great setup on payday. I knew as I made the purchase it wasn't what I wanted but I am doing well - no cigs since purchase and lots of research under my belt from reading here ad nauseum. I know now what I want to buy when I have enough money to step up.

What's the best vape shop close to 19th Ave and Greenway?

You're in luck, one of my top 3, Hi-Tec Vapor. Northern and I-17, North East on 23rd Ave, right behind the Burger King and El Pollo Loco on the north side. Be between the Mexican Food place on the west of the strip mall and a Pool hall. Great group of people there, plus the bonus, they the cheapest in town on juices, $10 for 20mil, they have a wide variety of juices and equipment, and great with new vapers =)

Awesome - I actually saw there was a vape shop there and had planned to stop in, so this is great. Is it more expensive to buy my set up there? It would be nice of course not to have to wait for shipping. I plan to buy a Provari and a Kanger Protank. Will settle for a Zmax but don't want to pay a big markup. I'll also pick up a spinner or winder for the car - already ordered a protank mini off Ebay for that.

Hey Vwls, Im glad you started this thread, I am a relatively new vaper (3 weeks) and I have the EXACT same setup as you showed in the pictures, same problems too. I find I have to twirl my vape alot and keep myself from hitting it too much, too fast, or I get the burnt hits.
Mine also gets "gurgly" too, It seems to have something to do with the hot 100 degree weather lately (or possibly the 50 degree temp change from morning to mid-day and vice versa) I have decided that I am gonna go with a Kanger protank. I have done alot of research on this forum and elswhere and decided it would be a good one to try, plus I want something thats glass. I am also going to get a vamo V3. The battery I have now would be perfect for an "out and about" e cig, but it just cant keep up with me all day long. Good luck on finding the device thats right for you :) Vape On :vapor:

Sounds like a 'great minds think alike' situation - I know I want glass. (Everything tastes better in glass - just a rule of thumb.)

I thought the gurgly problem was due to getting a little juice down the center. It does seem to go away after some, um... enthusiastic sucking. Have you found that keeping the tank filled to just under the plastic piece helps at all? For me, it hasn't eliminated the low-vapor/high chemical feeling hits.

I thought about grabbing a Vamo but changed my mind as I continued to read. In the end, it seems like buying something that costs more now will save more later. And I'm actually kind of a cheapskate, I mean I'm very frugal ;o)

The gurgling you hear means it's flooded, it is caused by condensation & juice collecting in the air tube. Moisture builds up in air tube and drains down into battery connection, mash button and vape = gurgle and or juice in mouth.
With a top coil clearo remove from battery, dry battery connection, blow through drip tip to clear air tube into napkin, dry underside of base on clearo.
Using the above method on a flooded bcc can make the flooding worse.

Rapid change of temps & humidity can increase the amount of condensation in air tube.

Thanks - for some reason, I figured this out without having to be told... it just made sense as I was looking at the thing.

But yeah, the gurgling was never a problem really (easy to fix) - it's the "bad hits" (the ones that feel like you inhaled noxious chemicals and when you exhale, little to no vaper emerges)... that is what I hate and what I'm hoping to eliminate by upgrading.

What I was saying about the temp change.... I think as it gets hotter from morning to mid day my clearo gets a little pressure, and forces some of the juice up and out of the tank into the center hole, along with condensation like Topwater Elvis said. Just the past couple days I have noticed that if I unscrew the tip just a bit it stops the gurgling. For me no amount of "enthusiastic sucking" would get all the juice out lol. Someone mentioned in this thread about the little inside cap above the wicks being too tight. I think the tip being screwed in too far pushes on that cap too much. Thats just my observations and experience. I dont know all the dynamics of why the tip trick works, but I know I struggled for 3 days with getting juice in my mouth until I figured out to unscrew it just a bit. Maybe it relieves the pressure so it doesnt force the liquid out.....?

The wicks look pretty wet... also, I don't turn this on it's side because it makes the next draw "gurgle."

LOL that gurgling sound is most likely a flooded atty. Its highly annoying. Not sure by your post what cartomizes your using but it happens. If you have a slandered ego battery its time to buy a different cartomizer. Everyone has there favorites mine are the bottom coil. I understand being on a budget so check out ivape.com they have the lowest prices I can find on carto, less than $5 a unit but there ejuice is just average

Hey, Im new too, and have been experiencing the same problems... the first week was great, but this second week Ive been having the same issues you have. Im glad to see the advice everyone gave, I tried the suggestions and have gotten 1 clearo working ( all 3 I have did the same thing at the same time.. which had me very frustrated to say the least! I thought I broke it! LOL So Thank you for posting this, and thank you everyone for the great advice!

Sorry about that I certainly didn't mean to sound like I was talking down to you.

Sounds like dry/burny hits or juice you don't like or a combination of both. I bet with a different juice delivery device your vaping woes will lessen considerably.

Oh not at all - I didn't take it that way ) Totally appreciate all advice! (It's hard to convey tone when typing!)

You are right - I definitely need to try out some different juices. So far I've tried two - one I don't mind the taste but the nic is too high, and the other I absolutely HATE and can't vape. I know finding something I like will go a long way to making the vaping experience more pleasurable, but I do believe the "bad hits" syndrome is a function of the equipment.

Everything has its learning curve with this hobby/cig-alternative :). Finding a local brick and mortar vape shop is a boon. Most are run by vapers/ex-smokers themselves and can point you in the right direction with a couple of general questions. The Ego style battery/batteries you have now are flexible and a great starting point over the cig-alikes you find at the corner store, so keep it/them on hand as backups even after you step up to a more advanced system as they are very flexible and great for carrying out and about. Another nice thing about dedicated Vape Shop, you can try out their array of liquids they offer and figure out what ones you like, as well as get advice on what Nicotine level you will need, ie pack and a half to to pack a day ex-smoker probably 24mg (2.4%), pack a day maybe 18mg (1.8%), etc.

But as far as attachments, looking at an all day tank or delivery attachment, you'll decide upon on your own, having backups to these that work or work similarly is advisable, you'll learn backups for your backups are a rule of thumb with vaping. Another attachment you should have on hand is a dripping atomizer with a drip tip in your arsenal, simple standard resistance 510 drip atomizer is around $8 max, tip about another $5 max. These are great for when you go out shopping for juices, drip atomizers give the best hit and flavor as it is a direct liquid to coil system, 2-3 drops in the cup, and you are good for about 5-10 hits depeneding on the liquid, once done trying one flavor, blow out through the bottom into a napkin the remaining liquid left, go onto the next liquid and last about a month with constant use and cleaning so not a bad investment, and again make for good backups for when a tank coil dies on you until you can get another coil head =)

Great advice - thank you!

And another question...

I read in a thread that "vodka will do in a pinch" or something of that nature, to dilute a juice that has too high of a nic content for the user.

The reason I ask is I am stuck at this moment with a juice that I don't at all mind the flavor of, but that makes me feel wired and headachy. I don't have access to any zero nic juice right now to mix it with, but I do have a bottle of vodka in the freezer.

Can I? If so, how much vodka should I put in?

Vodka is used to thin thick/ high VG juice. We use PG and/ or VG (food grade/ USP) bought from the pharmacy to dilute juices that are too high in Nic. Realize the flavor will also be diluted.
