Not the best wording of the concept but it still communicates the point:

"The basic fallback position in any free society is that people should be allowed to do things unless those activities can be shown to harm others. Basically, the burden on proof should always rest with the people who want to ban stuff."

The implied corollary is 'if this isn't the case, then it isn't a free society'. And guess what?

Sorry to burst your bubble DC2, but San Diego just did the SF and LA thing when it comes to ecigs... unanimously I might add.
I know, but still, we are a long ways from being them... although we keep getting closer year by year.

And it turns my stomach to think someday we will be just like they are.
Which is why I keep thinking maybe I will move to Alaska.

"But what does it say about the state of our free society when officials are so eager to severely limit a product before any ill effects are found? Why the rush to ban things?"
Good question.
Dr. Robertson, 1948(?), discovers the germicide PG. It kills airborn germs/bacteria/viruses.
Big pharmafia (lol, Anja, love it) lobby's hard against eCigs. Joining the antis are the CDC, ALA, ACS, TFK, etc...
Ebola is now a new airborne disease, travels in water droplets or something or both somehow. (Scarring the masses against water vapor I imagine, plus denying Vapers the only POSSIBLE protection known against Ebola, PG)
Many say that Ebola is man made. Imagine that.
And then the rest of the typical stuff that NWO researchers discuss.
Why the rush indeed.

Off to stock up on some PG....

Edit update. Just discovered this link to an Ebola PATENT. Weird. http://www.google.com/patents/US20120251502

Also, a good common sense article to help us prepare for community lockdown.... errrr, pandemic.

Why the rush indeed??? One of our towns banned the use of ALL personal vaporizers inside of city buildings, which effectively includes asthma inhalers. This in a state that recently legalized ............ go figure.

Why, this just sounds so BASS ACKWARDS to me! (Simple minded idiots without backbone.)

Wow Uma! Thats some crazy stuff to think about.. Scary too!
Haha, I know, right. Just be glad I skipped half of it, like for instance the military vehicles & gear in most towns, CDC's guideline about complete town quarantines, our country's wide open border, .... oh how the news has been active!
It's always fun shopping for extra supplies to tie over for a month or so.
Don't mean to scare. No need to panic. It's just another day in the hood. Can't wait to hear tomorrow's headlines lol.

So there are actually people with sound minds and advocates of a free society in San Diego. Which is a part of the US! Power to them! :thumb:

Ahhhh, but dear old ex UN official turned Santa Barbara university academic, Richard Falk, is back to his old tricks. Headlines splashed it out just 2 hours ago. Former UN official charged with anti-Semitism, now California academic, takes on Israel in Gaza | Fox News

Oh, oh, and as for the Ebola stuff, surprise surprise, the CDC is bringing 2 quarantined doctors back to the states. Headlines never disappoint lol.
Ebola crisis: U.S. racing to bring two infected Americans home - CBS News

Doesn't "quarantine" mean to isolate the infected and the infected area?
Lets see, now we can include the pilot, co pilot, stewardess, EMT, rough and tough muscle men who can carry stuff because I'm sure there's no way they'll leave all that expensive equipment behind for the natives to play biology with, and then we have the plane, cots, and then we have the Hazmat cleanup crews, ... OH! And the NSA checkpoint finger up .... patrol to greet them at the airport.

But, it, not to worry, everything's under control. :D

We can either panic, or we can slap our foreheads and say "wow, you know, we're always supposed to be prepared for natural disasters and whatnot, and I'd better get off the denial train and buy some water purification tabs, tp, beans, and of course chocolate for the wife while I'm kind of pumped up after reading the headlines. No time like the present to get my .... in gear."

If everyone in the community grew a different vegetable or two, the community could make onion soup for everyone, everyday. Potatoes grow in new garbage cans really easy. Onions grow indoors in empty soda pop bottles, tomatoes love buckets, strawberries love rain gutters, ....
