My grandma was the same way. Every meal when I visited for lunch was some form of meat, some form of salad (potato/macaroni/chick pea) and peas. Boy I hated the salad and peas. I remember one time she caught me cursing and had me put soap in my mouth. Not bar soap, nope, homemade liquid hand soap. Never cursed again in her presence and have a love for salads and peas. Thanks grams!

I ate a lot of soap in my day too... imagine that... we did our own lye soap too and I helped from the time I was 6 or 7

I don't help with making it. But I am currently painting the roof portion of her house. She contracted me and asked how much I wanted. I told her to take me to a local fish fry joint. Still love having lunch with my grandma. The only thing keeping me from joining the peace corps is that I wouldn't see her for over two years and know that, even though she's a strong older woman, she is getting up there.
