NYS trying to ban e-cigs

Welcome to ECF, chill.
I think you'll find that we all consider PV's as a much better alternative to analogs.
We've got to let our representatives know where we stand on these issues. Hope you read the thread that DC2 suggested in the reply above. The same issue will be going to the Senate in the near future. We all need to take the initiative and keep these anti-e-cig bills from being passed.
Hope to see you around the forum.

Have sent many emails and made calls to NYS government but I am a bit confused still, have read the proposed legislation repeatedly and as far as Section 2 goes, does this propose to ban sales within NYS only or would it make buying products out of state illegal as well?

Also raises questions on how they plan to enforce this. Will they be raiding my home to confiscate my Ego? Chase me down the street as I vape? Going to go through my mail with a vapor detector?

I do fear if they impose a total ban I will be back to smoking analoges. Have had a rocky road with vaping but am finally back on track after falling off the wagon. How sad that would be.

That's exactly what they want. Do you know how much money is going to be lost if they don't get us back on analogs? I just noticed I don't need to wear foundation anymore because my skin color looks healthy, that's bad for the cosmetic industry too. Don't forget to consider the taxes and sick people, we are more valuable dead.

I know it is all about taxes. Everything in NYS is about taxes.

E cigs have given me my first real hope and success for stopping analog smoking, even though I did fall off the vaping wagon for a while over the holidays. I have tried everything to stop and nothing worked even 24 hours before I was supplementing that patch, gum, etc. with an analog. This has. I have managed days and days without an analog in the past. Gives me hope and the will to try again.

24 hours again without an analog as of now. :)

NYS has a patch program they distribute to people free. Tried that too. Was climbing the walls in a matter of hours and called their supposed "quitline" for help. They actually told me the patch was not designed for a smoker as heavy as I and no, they did not have anything stronger. Couldn't recommend me wearing a patch and a half or 2 over the phone because that could be dangerous, but maybe I should see a doctor or some professional. Great and useful aid from the State of New York once again.

With the state things are in NYS, this should be the last thing the legislature should be concentrating on.

This is obviously a case where the sponsors of the bill have an agenda or are actually ignorant of the facts of the cases they quote. Either is a little ridiculous.

It funny to me how no one who crafts these bills includes any of the positive aspects of vaping or the studies that state we get very little nicotine in the vapor. I'd really like to see ecigs approved as a tobacco product, but it's more likely that they will eventually be approved as a nicotine delivery device and regulated as nicotine replacement products. That way big pharma gets a cut. I'd hate to have to buy my ecig hardware at the drug store. Either way they could be heavily taxed and expensive in the long run.

Last time I checked on this the number one contributor to campaigns was the tobacco industry and the second was the pharmacuetical industry. Along with the loss of tobacco tax dollars to the state, what can one expect? Unless the e-cig vendors and users become extremely vocal and actively work to fight these bans, this industry does not stand a chance. Even then I don't know if this can be stopped. Money talks when it comes to politics. To think that a cigarette is perfectly legal and an e-cig might not be is utterly ridiculous. Health has nothing to do with this. It is all about big tobacco, big pharmaceuticals, greedy government and politicians IMHO.

I really don't know what I would do if it is a total ban and I could not buy any equipment or juice even from out of state or as a last resort, overseas. I am not Rockerfeller here and I am still semi-supporting one of my adult daughters who still lives at home, even though when she moved back almost 3 years ago it was only going to be for "a few months till I get back on my feet again."

Stocking up for me would be difficult right now. Plus certain items like atomizers can go at any time. Sooner or later I would be in trouble.

Have looked at some DIY threads but even as a college graduate, those DIY calculators make my eyes glaze over, much like the detailed battery discussions some people have here. Really can't seem to make heads or tails of them. Not a very scientific mind here I fear. Chemistry was the one subject in school I almost flunked.

Plus being so new to this, I do have concerns about handling nicotine. Would rather leave it to the professionals. I find that while some steeping with some juices is a good thing, I really do not care for juice that is months old or sometimes near the bottom of a bottle. So stocking up on juices is also a concern.

Dark days indeed in NYS if this becomes a total ban. :(

Open question for everyone alarmed with what the government is doing, did you VOTE in the last election?
the one before that, the one before that..... Too often, we have found the enemy, and they are us.

I have sent emails and letters, and always sign my name, then underneath add
"Registered voter since 1972, and have exercised my right in every election"

First they came for the Cigarette Smokers and I did not speak out because I was not a Cigarette Smoker.
Then they came for the Cigar Smokers and I did not speak out because I was not a Cigar Smoker.
Then they came for the Snus users and I did not speak out because I was not a Snus users.
Then they came for the RYO'ers and I did not speak out because I was not RYO.

Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Letters, emails and phone calls don't make the difference voting does, the pols get away with
doing stupid things because they do not fear losing their jobs, until they do nothing will change.

NY can't afford not to ban e-cigs,,,,they receive $4.25 p/pack State Tax. Best advice.....move
BTW WELCOME and stay on the wagon!!!
