The President of the United States would not touch this with a 10 foot pole. this would be political suicide. I can see the headlines now. The President of the United States supports Chinese product. (e-cigarette's)
President Obama promotes e-cigarette's to help boost Chinese economy.

Definitely political suicide.

There is no reason that the US can't start producing ecigs here...that's the point really. If we have a way to get people to stop using tobacco products and therefore make a huge dent in cancer prevention the President should be the first person shouting this from the rooftops in my opinion.

That would get some media attention, but the Colbert Report is more political backstabbing than anything else...all the issues are brought up to ridicule and poke fun at the establishment.

Not that I'd love to see it, but having him poke fun at the FDA or Congress isn't exactly make them more receptive to our requests....

Just think about the backlash from the American people when they find out that Phillip Morris helped write S982. Talk about stacking the deck to fill your own pockets. S982 = no ecig no ecig = $$$$ for big tobacco

I see it as being the same as South American Drug Cartel's helping to write our Antidrug laws and then making campaign contributions with their now protected profits. I know it is a bit of an extreme view but.... thats me.

I think we need to make an effort to secure our survival by following every possible avenue available to us. Colbert, Jon Stewart, Operah....omg I can't believe I just said Operah. lol Anyone with media power that may be simpethetic to our goals must be contacted. Leave no stone unturned, leave no letter unwritten. I have realized that I am unable to overcome my nicotine addiction and I WILL NOT allow our government to sentence me to a slow and painful tobacco related death!

yield2me you are exactly right, it's would be a new product that we currently do not make here in the United States.
It would be a whole new fresh industry, meaning more jobs here in the United States.
But from a political standpoint, it would involve going against pharmaceutical/tobacco industry. Until they can classify e-cigarette's as a drug or tobacco so that one or the other of the two big industries can make money on this wonderful product.(We can't forget, Uncle Sam needs to get tax dollars from this product)
I don't think you will see Obama endorsing it.
Bottom line in IMO is, if somebody's palm is not getting greased you do not create waves if you're in politics because you're going to p**s somebody off.
We have all seen first hand how the media can twist and manipulate the facts.
If Obama would try to endorse e-cigarette's to bring new industry into the United States and for better health alternative for the American people that smoke, the pharmaceutical/tobacco industry would convince the media that Obama was endorsing the product for China. Political suicide:(

It only takes one person with medical/lung problems to go on Oprah and cry and say how ecigs saved their life to change the publics view on vaping. Any volunteers? I will call Oprah!

If I had more than 3 weeks and 75% reduction in analog use I'd go on Oprah. I always wanted to be a star ::batts eyelashes:: lol

I can cry on cue, but my look is more 'Jerry Springer' than 'Oprah', so I'll pass in favor of someone else to represent us. :D

This pole has been chased around many times. Hell will freeze over before you see the President of the United States with a cigarette, e or otherwise, in his mouth.

Yes, he's been offered.

Yep...it's been awhile since we've seen one smoking.

Politicians are the worst.
Mayor of the biggest-East Coast City, is a anti-smoking ....., yet he's the first one to light up a big stogie.
Seen it in person.
Pisses me off to no end.

That is your first post! Care to say where you are from (you should enter it in your profile so it shows under your name... helps others make recommendations of companies to buy from if they know where you are from) and maybe introduce yourself?
