It's a nice design, but in it's current condition, I won't be using mine.

Did you try contacting the vendor you bought it from?

It's a vendor that I do a lot of business with and one that has fixed issues in the past. How many times do you go back to the retailer because the manufacturing is poor. Just the return postage if they take care of it kills their margins.

This isn't a high end atty but everyone should have an expectation that the quality would be good and the tank should work as described. I really wanted to see how Crius reacted to me coming to them directly and now I know that they could care less about the consumer. They have a quality promise on their website that I wanted to see if they would stand behind. It's obviously a mis-representation to both the resellers and the public.

We have a professional inspection management system. For incoming materials inspection to all process strict inspection before shipment. Each production line at least equipped with five inspectors, and do a regular skill traning to all employees.

And they mis-spelled training on their site, it's not me ;)

Marc, I know it's not an ideal solution, but have you tried straightening out the dimple with needle nose pliers/screw driver/punch/dremel? It looks like a problem that could be fixed with some simple hand tools.

Great minds think alike, I smoothed it with a dremel last night.

Lol! Glad you got it fixed Marc.

I understand not wanting to hassle a retailer that you enjoy, but collectively, complaints from a retailer to the manufacturer outweigh complaints from the consumer.

The retailer buying hundreds or thousands of units is going to be listened to and (hopefully) taken care of. The retailers are a great tool for molding the vape industry. It's their sales and returns numbers that mean business.

I don't think it's immoral to ask the retailer to correct an issue with a product.

I just want to add that you can truly tell a manufacturers mission when they have challenges with their product line.

Crown recently had a problem with their coils and admitted that on this ECF. Crown offered to ship replacements to individual for the cost of postage, and their postage rate was reasonable. It appears to me that for the long haul consumer confidence and quality are driving a substantial segment of their business model. The same cannot at this time be said for OBSNSMOKE so people can only send a clear message with how they spend their money.

I bought two more Crown tanks this weekend ;)

Agreed and I am sure that with as many problems as I see here in just this one post the retailers is getting the appropriate feedback. I really wanted to see how obsnsmoke would respond. And honestly no reply to a consumer is a very clear signal to me that they don't care about what happens once they release product. They could have responded to contact the retailer, they ignored the e-mails!

I just wanted to see their response.

Thanx jefx. I wanted another V-deck anyways!!

Both of my Dremels are fully charged and Crius surgery will begin after my 2nd cup of coffee!

I will definitely post pics if I remember how!!

roxy's was the V-deck and this one was the ver2 deck. I don't now if they are different but don't feel like sacrificing another deck in the name of "science". lol

I will say, the white ver3 has been sitting in the atty tray for 24 hrs and no leaking so far.

Paging Dr. freedogg.....off to surgery I go. Wish me luck....I don't think my "patient" is going to fare too well!! lol

Yes, the insulator is ceramic. I probably should've warned you. Sorry, got very little sleep as I had to get up early to go get meds for my birds and time it around traffic going to the Ohio State/Michigan game. Vet was closed Wed, Thurs and Fri.

Once I had the 510 out I was able to pull the deck out.

roxy....that was a good game for Ohio State.

Even with the 510 post/positive block and insulator removed (shattered) my deck won't budge. Maybe V-deck is different??

Off to the operating room!

I'm trying to remember the v2 deck. I'm pretty sure one of mine was loose when it got here. My memory is terrible these days and they arrived around the same time as the second 2 MTs and the Haze dripper tank so I cleaned a lot of attys right then.

I know I had problems with one of them. It must have been the black one.

Well the surgery is complete!!

Sadly to say the patient didn't make it!! lol

1. cut the afc ring and pried it off

2. cut the bottom of base off where the airflow slots are ( 1st 2 pieces from left to right with obvious Dremel marks) and the bottom (far left) fell off and the deck and the 2 parts to the left of it ere still stuck together. This is actually how the whole base is held together. The deck is press fit into the other 2 pieces. Nothing screws and no seals.

3. Tapped the the deck out of the other 2 pieces and ended up with what you see below (minus the ceramic insulator cause it shattered into a million pieces)

The o-ring goes on the very bottom of the base to give the afc ring some resistance. You can see the 510 post and positive block pin just push together (no threads).

Here is the afc ring. You can see a large "lip" that goes between 2 of the base pieces.
IMG_0042_2.jpg

This is the piece of the base the afc lip sits in/on. It sits on that little nib.
IMG_0040_2.jpg

This is the underside of the deck. 2 big hole are airflow and the center hole is for the 510 post. This little guy is what holds the whole base together!!
IMG_0041_2.jpg

Some thoughts:

1. loose afc ring....everything wasn't pressed together enough = bad QC

2. leaking....God only knows..non-sealed press fit metal pieces and liquid do NOT play well together!!!

If anyone can figure anything out from all of this or any questions please let me know. For now, I'm going to keep using the white v3 I just got and see what happens. If it holds up I MAY order a new base.

Matter of fact...do you think that if I send Wet Vapes the pic of my base they'll send me a new one?? lol

Enjoy!!

Wow Freedogg! I hope I never have to go under your knife! Lol!

See if that is covered under warranty!

Seriously though, thanks alot for taking the time to help us all understand what I going on in there.

Since the 510 pin is not threaded, and the whole base seems press fit together, do you think it's possible to disassemble the base simply by pulling the top portion of the positive block out of the build deck?

Probably not. It holds the whole base together so that baby is pretty damn tight...took a couple light taps with a small hammer.
