I am a 26 year old non-smoker, who grew up with a mother that smoked until I was 19 years old. I recently read that some non-smokers started vaping with 0mg nicotine liquid and I was previously told that Zero-nic still has nicotine in it. Honestly, I'm really just here to learn more about it before I decide to try zero-nic flavors.

(I should point out I have a heart defect, so I'm looking for ways to deal with stress. So, I'm not sure whether or not zero-nic is still a safe alternative as my friends claim they are.)

True zero nic does not contain any nicotine. It's just a combination of PG and VG, usually mixed with flavorings.

Personally I wouldn't recommend people who didn't smoke start vaping, but of course that's your choice. I understand there are many reasons people choose to vape other than nicotine delivery or quitting smoking / tobacco.

Oh and welcome to the forum Nitewatch :toast:

In most cases, I wouldn't. I really seriously would NOT consider it. I've gone this long without that much stress; but as of lately I'm living with a guy that drives me up the wall with frustration. I'm jewish and he's christian and it's one of those things that really and truly gets to me. But I'm still very conscious about the fact that Nicotine CAN kill me, if not, harm me in various ways. I don't want to think too hard about it; and I'm still looking into everyone's opinions before I make any decisions, but for now, it's still under consideration.

as long as you go through a big reputable vendor the 0 nicotine e-liquid will have 0 nicotine.
there is a lot of small companies popping up just trying to make a quick buck and thus they use sub standard practices and residual nicotine ends up in the 0 nicotine batch.
e-cigarettes are a "reduced harm alternative" to tobacco. there is some risk involved, you may be allergic to one of more of the ingredients / flavors. we don't fully understand the long term effects of using e-cigarettes but short term studies look very promising.

Red Label e-liquid / E Cigarettes and E Liquid from Totally Wicked just select %0.0 from the strength drop down menu.
Herbal e-liquid | @Totally Wicked these only come in 0 nicotine.

Then you might consider just buying a flavoring and add it to either PG or VG to guarantee it has zero nicotine... Or just the PG or VG alone with no flavoring. Would be way cheaper than buying pre-mixed. Just a thought... And I can possibly make recommendations based upon your decision if you so wish... :)

Could you tell me the differences between the two so I'll know what I'm looking into, first?

Whats your opinion on Aer brand?

its hard to say if Aer is doing a good job or not.

if you want to make your own, its simple enough you can get everything you need here.
Vegetable Glycerin USP

basic info
VG is thicker PG. VG is the liquid that is responsible for most of the visible vapor the e-cig produces. its got mild sweet flavor and is very easy on the throat.
PG carries the flavor and nicotine very well. on its own its not very tasty and give a bit more throat hit.

Just a thought--vaping is a harm reduction proposition--but we don't know if it's harmless. There is no doubt in my mind that vaping is much healthier than smoking, but nobody knows what long-term effects might be.

If you have a heart problem, just bear that in mind.

Good luck and welcome.

this is really the best advice.

I'm well aware of the risks. And there's also risks that come with excessive caffine.. and I have that problem big time... I know that if I did start and something worse than bad tachycardia happens to me I'd stop. ... That's why I'm looking into nicotine free alone and nothing that I know would hurt me 100 percent.

I don't want to harm myself in any way.

Good!

You can also minimize any potential risks by vaping without inhaling, like you'd smoke a pipe or a cigar. If that's doable, then the risks of just puffing on some nic-free tasty eliquids would be close to zero, IMO. You can even get a coffee flavored juice--for the taste of coffee without the caffeine! :D

That's a great idea. I did that with *desserts* as I'm sure many of us do.

When I cut down on my coffee, I started to put some coffee flavoring into hot water. With creamer and some sugar, it was pretty good.

Most of the DIY flavorings I don't like, I use in cooking or in my herbal teas, and some of the fruity ones are good in water or sparking water/club soda......why buy flavored water when I can make it myself now.
