since i started last year i came across analog users who are some what startled with PV's. i encountered some how funny questions

almost every time an analog user asks, then i liaise, last question i get is: can you put bad things in it?

when i'm using clearo's people always say i thought you were doing bad things specifically when refilling clearo's in the office or at the lung center. (smoking area)

when at a resto with smoking lounge analog users get jumpy because i sit at the non smoking area
i see them ask service crews or bar keeps then they walk by my table you get the feeling that they are compelled to ask but they hold back because of the ejuice(because it looks like a medicine bottle)....

share your experiences!!!

Most of the smokers that ask me about electronic cigs have never seen one. When I tell them that it
has kept me from smoking ever again, they get defensive or want to criticize the use of these devices.
I finally figured out the psychology going on here. They are either afraid to try and quit analogs or they are
mad that I did! I can understand. smoking makes one come up with all kinds of justifications and excuses.
Been there, done that. I just end up telling them it is an option for those who really want to quit without going
through nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

I've only had one person think my ego (with a clearomizor) was something questionable. Once I explained the kit he was curious. Now he's hunting for his own. :)

I still treat my e-cig like an analog though. I don't try to vape in restaurants or non smoking areas (I'd get chased out here in California. No questions asked....just "get out")

Minitater, I think they're disturbed that I quit - I get a lot of nonsense in the form of resentment, too. However, several smokers have taken it up after seeing mine and have stuck with it, and that with my own increased health keeps me smiling at the haters and skepticism.

Of course the only thing I heard last week was "You know those things explode and knock your teeth out, right?"

All smokers I talked to about my PV seemed curious, and interestingly instantly willing to share their long brewed plans to quit cold turkey at some point. "Oh, I see... well, I'm planning to quit for real, not like that"; "But this doesn't count as quitting, does it?" Oh, well...

Another specific smoker told me "e-cigarettes were lame". That same smoker recently quit cold turkey and a few days later asked me to urgently bring her a usable setup because she was this close to lighting up. And it worked!

I find that my KGO with a carto-tank tands to cause people to blink rapidly in confusion, and they usually don't figure out what it is. Sometimes that's useful.

A lot of people refer to my PV as the "fake cigarette". I take no offense because I remember something memorable someone posted here on this forum. In reply they'd said "yeah, it's also fake cancer and fake COPD" or something similar.

By the way, we all get what "bad stuff" you're talking about, but here's http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/255864-why-we-dont-allow-drug-talk.html

I live around a lot of elderly folks in my neighborhood, and they have all asked about my Echo's and been very supportive. But.. one lady asked me over and over how I light it. Geting older keeps looking worse all the time.

Hahahahaaaa! Nah, gettin' older's pretty much like everything else... it's not about being "better or worse", it's all about how you go about it. Took me almost sixty years but I finally started learning how to enjoy it & since then it just keeps gettin' better! Happy Vaping! :)

More and more, what I hear from the smokers I run into is "Oh I've got one of those." Invariably, when they describe it, it's a disposable or one of the many low-powered (and generally overpriced) advertised units. And invariably, it's not with them then. "Oh I only use it when I'm in my daughter's car," etc. For me it's getting rarer to run into anybody (or at least any smoker) who has never heard of them.

You know, it's like parallel universes! In here, on the forum, it's one world. Out there, be it real life or even "mainstream internet" and Google, it's a totally different reality - one where e-cigs are slim and puny and taste like crap, they explode, may give you cancer and turn your skin green. It's really frustrating trying to explain about PVs. I'm always very self conscious about this, and I fear I'd look like a fringe nut if I insist on the real facts about PVs and vaping... Sad... And quite likely tantamount to mass murder given that this controlled information suppression, and at times deliberate misinformation (see FDA's "they contain antifreeeeeeezeeeeee!!!!!!") keeps a lot of people breathing in tar and TNAs and carbon monoxide.

The smokers who've seen me vape, have all been positive.
None of them has heard about it,they wonder if it works and how.
They smile when they see the clouds of vape thats coming out :)
Ordered a kit for a guy at work, and he quit analogs the moment he got it.
I'm ordering for another 3 people at work, but the supplier is currently out of stock.
Happily converting as many as i can :)

I have to vape in the "smoke shack" at work, and this morning I was the only one in there (and lovin it!) when one of my co-workers ,who has tried to quit cold turkey and went back to smoking, came in. I had my back to the door and I heard her say "That's an awful lot of smoke coming from that e-cigarette you have there!" When I turned around she saw my e-cig and said "Oh! it is your e-cig! I thought you were smoking a real cig!" She said she didn't realize how much vapor it put out because there was always so much smoke in there. One of the managers has challenged me to find malibu rum flavored e-liquid, she said if I can find that... she will give it a try! So if anybody knows where I can get some, let me know.

It makes a lot of sense as a group solidarity attitude.
I learned how to socialize normally and make small talk when I started smoking in public. It's absurdly easy to form a strong bond with someone over something as petty as whether or not your a smoker. When someone quits or changes delivery systems it's a "threat" to the group, they've defected. Not to mention how preachy and self-righteous some quitters can be.

What makes something Malibu Rum?
