    Good morning. You might be surprised CES. Those hvac guys carry a lot of stuff in those vans and there are usually supply companies around where they can get just about anything. Do you know for sure that the compressor is bad? I was just wondering because something as simple as a capacitor can make a unit stop working.

    Fingers crossed for a reallu simple fix, Hitt. I don't really know anything about HVAC, but I suspect the fan motor cause the fan is the part that i can see. I can hear the compressor try to kick in for a second, the fan in the unit sits motionless, and the top of the unit gets hot to the touch within a minute or two. (The fan spins freely if you poke it).

    I'm no expert either on hvac but when our unit was about four or five years old it quit. I had a guy I knew in the neighborhood come and look at it and it ended up being the starting capacitor. I'm going to cross my fingers for you that it's something simple like that. They use a fairly large capacitor to help start the motor.
