    Somewhere between here and there
I'm sure I'm not the only one out there with inlaws like that. It's funny because they invited themselves and then expected us to serve them dessert. The oldest brother called ten this morning and asked if we had plans for his father. He asked because he can't do anything on his own. When he found out his dad was stopping over then he and his girlfriend showed up here. The reason we just invited her dad was because her mom and dad don't get along well and we didn't want a bunch of people to clean up after. Not one of them can put a cup or dish in the sink. After they leave then you have to walk around picking up after them.

    Afternoon ya'll.

Whoopie do da de, looking at 7 straight days of upper 90's starting this coming Thursday. Joy.
This old house simply will not cool down over night after 'bout 2 days of 80+ weather so we bought a portable room size A/C, hope it makes life bearable.

    ...
    How's your back OTD?
Temperamental as all get out. Been 5 1/2 months now, so the bone should be close to healed. I do know it still takes very little to set it off

...The last thing I was expecting on father's day was to have to entertain her family. I'm over it now.
The host with the most hitt.
Yer s'posed to make announcements periodically like "Hey! How many of ya are ready to help clean up?" and "Dessert for all that give a hand, slackers will do without!" or some-such ;)

I had a portable ac, which is what I think you're talking about, Fran. The one in this pic looks similar to the one I had. They work just as well as the window ac. The one I had, had a remote control to go with it. It still needs some kind of opening for the tube thingy :), and, on the back bottom, there's an opening for a piece of tubing that will lead somewhere to be drained.

ETA...they are more expensive than window ac's though. I had it for my very humid basement, while my son was still living here.

I didn't know they made stuff like this. EAC421 Edgestar High Velocity Portable Evaporative Air Cooler :)

    Environmentally-Friendly:
Unlike portable air conditioners, this unit uses no freon and no CFC's- and it consumes 1/4 the power of and air conditioner

This one EdgeStar Portable Evaporative Air Cooler with Air Purification - EAC211TS says....

    Superior Air Cooling:
The EAC211TS can lower the temperature of the air being blown through the front air vent by adding water and the included icepacks

Can't say whether or not they are any good though.
