Still really good in the UFS after a few days now, almost time to clean I guess.......
been reading a ton about the ultrasonic cleaners. anyone use one with a HH 357? if so, did you use alcohol or just distilled water?
Ob, I have used my ultrasonic cleaner once, with Everclear, to clean my HH .357's. Since I have been reading the forum and being meticulous about blowing out my .357 on a daily bases, or when ever I change juices, I found that hasn't been necessary for me to bring out the big gun. It is so much easier just dropping them in a small glass of Everclear and letting them sit for an hour or so as apposed to setting up the sonic cleaner. I think that the ultrasonic cleaners are wonderful and I use mine occasionally to clean other vaping items.
I hope this was helpful to you.
To the OP, regarding "gumming up" if left "dry."
Try putting a drop of PG, glycerine, or any mix thereof on a sheet of glass. Let it sit at least 24 hours. See any gum? I'll wager you don't. The vapor pressure and oxidation potential (what makes the liquid start down the road to "gummy" is too high on PG/glycerine for any noticeable effect. Now, *additives* to the liquids might gum, but not the glycerine nor the PG.
Store in a liquid if you wish. I clean my atomizers with a combo ultrasound in water and dry burn and store them dry until use. C o m p l e t e l y DRY. I once cleaned every 3-4 days, now that I DIY exclusively it's every couple of months, "just because" and not because something's gone bad. Once in use, I do nothing overnight. 510 atomizers and cartomizers, some in excess of two years old, are all working absolutely as good as or better than new.
I like the idea of getting a ultrasonic to clean these things. I know most use alcohol. I was wondering for those who have done this if using distilled water would be as effective? I would prefer to do that as it seems less harsh, but will use alcohol if that is better. I am currently using everclear to clean in a glass.
Ob, You can get the follow cleaner from Amazon for $26.65 and free shipping. Amazon.com: New Trent 2800 Ultrasonic cleaner for Jewelry, Eyeglasses and Dental with Digital Display 1 Pint capacity CD 2800A: Electronics
I am getting somewhat muted flavor from several of mine now. anyone have a solution? I am wondering if it is a wick problem.
anyone have a idea of when more are going on the site?
I've used Everclear and distilled water depending on what I am cleaning. Everclear sometimes takes the paper or rubber coating off of items, in this case I use water.
