I bought 3 of these attys about a month and a half ago. The first one I bought was absolutely awesome. Vapor production far exceeding any other atty I've used (about 50% more). After that atty died (it lasted a solid month), I wanted to use up my last cisco 306. It lasted about 2 weeks before I broke it (it didn't burn out....I droped my pv and the atty actually broke). This morning, I went to blow out the excess primer from my second hh .357, and a big blob of black nastyness with little black flakes came out the end of it. Totally disgusting. I don't know if the 50/50 PG/VG primer reacted with the steal wool inside the atty, but that would be my guess. This is not acceptable regardless. I cleaned the atty as per manufacturers instructions, and it is drying as we speak, though with the amount of flakes I saw in the blob of primer, the performance will probably be affected. I am going to write an e-mail directly to avid to address these concerns, but I thought I might put it out here to see if they have a public response to this issue.

Yikes doesn't sound good at all. I was just going to try one of these. It would be terrible to buy one that is sitting on the shelf there for a week or two and have that happen. Tell me what avid says.

I have 6. Some that sat for a few weeks prior to using. Never had that problem at all. And im sure Avid will take care of it. They took care of my leaky ones no prob!

I appreciate the concern. The first couple batches had different wicking material than we are using now. The wicking material was changed because of the manufacture not giving us the quality and consistancy we needed. The pg/vg might have reacted with it from sitting for that long but with the new material since the first batches I assure you it will not happen anymore.

Sent pm so we can get them fixed for you

It was mentioned elsewhere that there has been a change or a modification done to the .357 atty from the earlier runs. I have two sealed post units from the second run. Would I notice a difference in performance if I was to try a newer 1.5 ohm .357? Is the change in mesh or the wicking material the only difference?

Thanks.

Vaporologist, for the most part the wicking material was the only thing changed completely. Then just a few little tweaks to improve on flavor even more. If you put your sealed post side by side to one just made they should still perform just as well, and at the most you might notice slightly less flavor than a newer one.

Great. Thanks for the explanation.

Do you know if the sealed post .357 is compatible with the UFS?

I can only go by the videos that I've seen of it since I haven't been able to get one and will be missing out on the new ones, but as far as I can tell Im guessing you would need an open post, as I believe the ufs liquid enters in the side holes so you would need the open connector on the bottom for the air since the atty is basically submerged in liquid. Maybe somebody else with a ufs could chime in better as I'm just going off of 2nd hand knowledge on the matter.

It is - I asked this question in the GG subforum cause I was wondering if anybody had used the HH in the AVS. some individuals said they used it in the UFS

Okay awesome, I saw people using them in them but none of them specified open post or closed post so I couldn't be sure.

Do the 1.5 .357's work on the Provari?

From what I hear, because of the provari's 2.5 amp limit, that they work just not to much over 3.7 or it throws an error code. A 2.5 or 3.0 would seem the best bet for provari as it would give you the most range for disired voltage. I again don't own a provari tho so this is just what I've heard.
