It is hard to say. Really to me the only differences is the cosmetics. On the Gripper over the V2YJ I love the feel, the screen and that it shows the volts in the battery, not just a level of how full the battery is. Only thing I dislike of the gripper is that it is plastic, and with that the plastic battery door feels to be a weak spot. If I use flat top Efest IMR 18650 the door closes perfect. If I use the nipple top IMR 18650 that came with it(I got it right before they ran out :-( ) it bulges the door just a little bit. So over time this probably would be a issue. Plus with the pressure on it I am sure if I dropped it the door would be the first thing to break. With all that said I am thinking about getting the silver one too!

With the V2YJ I love that it is all metal, and eventhough people say the display is hard to read I have never had a issue reading it in any light. Also nipple tops fit in with no issue as one would expect.

But for vaping they seem to work the same. With a 3ohm SC XL carto in a ST tank I generally set them to 5.3volts and really the throat hit and vapor are the same from each. But when I am in a hurry out the door I always grab the gripper. Also while driving the gripper is easier to hold on to. The V2YJ seems to want to slip out of my hand. When at home it isn't a issue.

Still think flat on top of a nipple is best for ant stacked arrangement, only if they are same make, model and size,, when ordering if you want a different configuration when ordering an extra set, must specify in comments, sounds like you may have a weak cell (it happens) why 1 would charge faster then other, I personally will never use a nipple as the top battery in a stacked setup.

Hello, I am planning to get a Zmax the minute they go online.

I have a question though. I understand VV and VW separately, but how does this affect vaping together? Example, I am running a carto at 4 volts... What would raising the wattage do that raising the voltage wouldn't do?

Also, Would Crystal Clear please confirm if the Zmax will have a flat bottom cap. My friend has a Vmax and I hate that it falls down all the time. This will affect my purchase of the Zmax for sure. Thanks!

It wont do anything different in that regard, at least mostly. What it will do, or at least is suppose to do, is lets say your using your 4 ohm carto and as it gets hot, the coil starts to fluctuate and adds some resistance to the coil, with variable wattage, the pv should compensate for those fluctuations and keep the hit as consistent as it can be, with variable voltage it will just put out that set voltage even if your carto or atty changes. Also, there is the benefit of being able to put any resistance atty/carto and have the same consistent vape. I am hoping that smoketech knows what their doing with the VW thing because a lot of people have high hopes that this will be true variable wattage.

Okay, I'm confused. I am pretty sure that the vmax was going to be my next purchase. I was literally minutes away from pulling out my C.C and buying one. I was looking at the Vmax SS R4. From the pictures and research I have done it looks like it has a Red LCD and only takes 2 18350's.

So is the Zmax something different than what I just described above? If so why cant I find anything on Smoktechs website with the name of Zmax? I really like the idea of only needing 1 18650. Is it safe to say that the unit I just described above, does not take the 1 battery?

See attached video, I thought this was what I was about to purchase. This guy is calling it the Vmax R4 but it looks to be the Zmax.

Any input right now would be great

Hello, The Zmax is coming out in a couple weeks. It will be variable wattage as well as voltage. It will use 1 18650 or 2 18350's with an included extension cap. Rumored price of $150 suggested retail. The video you posted is of the latest version of the SS Vmax. If you want variable wattage, wait a lil bit. If you don't, you will love the Vmax. The latest Vmax has a blue LCD...

Ok it's making more sense and I clicked on the link and read the product description. It does say that the SS comes with the Blue LCD. I guess the other models black, chrome, etc.... still have a red display? Every picture of this unit looks like this: photo_6.1__97539_zoom.jpg

So is this picture not really a VMAX SS R4?

I really dont care if the Display is Red or Blue, I just want to make sure I am getting the newest product, as I have read lots of negative info on the older models!

Also if I do make this purchase do I get the Eferst 18350's with or without the nipple on them?

Thanks.

Not sure if this has been touched on, but why dont you guys ship to Canada? I have contacted you via email twice and have not received a response. It is perfectly legal to ship hardware to Canada and with your great deals you could significanly increase your sales with very little change.

Works for me! It would be really nice if they included a charger with that package! They're chargers arent cheap.

Thanks for the help!

Anytime :) I PM'd you on the $8 dual batt fast charger I use.

PS. If they include flat-top batteries with your Vmax and you bought 2 extra nipple tops...
Put the flat top in first, then the nipple top in back so the nipple touches the bottom of the flat top.
Mark these with a marker as a set. Use them together and charge them together as a set.

Cheers and good luck!

hey Andrew whats the word on your Zmax? How is it working for ya? Also I seen in some other threads some questions about them. One was a main question I had and was looking for a answer for. Can you use both VV and VW on 18650. and same with 18350? or does one work with one battery type and one work with the other battery type? thanks for any info. Still probably a good chance I will be picking one up when you get them, but still a bit unsure.
