Hello Gang, whats going on?

Any one familiar with Roku TV?

I got one one the way

Sounds cool... From what I've seen, it's basically like other Roku set top boxes only integrated into the TV. This allows them to control the TV settings, inputs and other things ( like say a DVD or a game box, that you've hooked up ). With the "channels" like Netflix, Hulu and the like... it's a nice first step in cutting the cable ... even if you still have to pay for the services as you would on CableTV... the difference being is that you get to select what it is that you want to purchase access for instead of being restricted to just the packages that the CableTV provider offers. Of course you still need a good high speed internet in order to stream the movies and tv shows that you may want to watch.

Similar setup boxes ( not integrated in the TV though ) are AppleTV and Amazon FireTV and FireStick...

I use a similar thing that is more... customizable... called Kodi ( previously named XBMC ) which runs on Windows based MediaPC and there are also other versions made for Android, Raspberry Pi etc...

I have an Apple TV in the bedroom an upgrade in the living room is long over due. And this seemed the best way to go.

Amazon.com: TCL 49S405 49-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV (2017 Model): Electronics

It fits my needs/wants like a glove.

... still less than what I paid ( many years ago ) for a 40" 1080p TV...
Apparently they make all thier own components here in the USA, and all RCA branded electronics are made by them. But i cant remember where i read that

I went by Harbor Freight and got a new set of general household etc tools and a bag to carry them in... so I can leave my others at the house ( or work )... I forgot to grab an adjustable wrench ( cresent ) or two though, so I may have to swing back by. I also had some older extra tools previously that I stuck in with the set.... :)
