Yesterday I got some of that good news bad news from my optician buddy...
Today would be a week and a half since I ordered my new glasses and was the expected eta, so I gave my friend a call to see if he had heard when I may expect the new specs. Before calling me back, he checked with the lab he uses and found out they were having issues getting the model of lenses I'd ordered, so they offered to switch them to the latest technology lens that company provides for the same cost to me. I'm guessing ( since I wasn't given a new eta ) that I'll have to wait another week or week and a half... but I'll be getting better lenses also.
The lenses I'm going to get will have two improvements over the ones I'd originally ordered ( which also had the same improvements over the ones I currently own ). Wider channels, this improves the amount of area that is in focus when looking left/right of center improving my peripheral vision. They will also require less head tilting in order to get things at different distances in focus. Both features will take a little bit of time to adjust too since I'm used to having to move my head to focus at different places in my vision, but will be really nice once I have adjusted to them.
