NO, DJ's choice only
back in the early 80's there was a 3000 watt station down here in Jupiter Fl WCEZ. The DJ's had complete freedom of the music they played. It was awesome. One was into the the cool New Wave/Punk Stuff, another into 60's music, another into good classic rock,,,,,,,,,, so on and so forth. A few station rules if it's been on the charts with in the last 10 years YOU DID NOT PLAY IT, and if it was on the charts even longer ago then ten years it better not be fluff.
one example of this is the used to play Joan Jetts I Love Rock n Roll, once it made it on the charts they took the 45 they had of it, (yes they played vinyl) and micro-waved it, a favorite pastime the DJ's had of records they wouldn't play
