Good morning

Heard anything on this ?
Hurricane Irma

Got up late... so I've been trying to get up to date on stuff... ( not to mention get coffee'd up and starting laundry :D )

The forecasted eye tract is slightly more east than it was last night... currently about 15 miles west of Classy... Since my radar map with the forecast tracts isn't as accurate on locations, I have to estimate where things are a bit on my better radar program that I don't have a tract forecast on... so these distances are just close but not exact.

Here is the current forecasted eye tract...

Ok... switching to my other radar that I prefer to work from.. This is a screenshot using the Miami radar site so I see what's impacting Moonie more at the moment and can still see the eye wall area... The left is a typical reflectivity radar that most folks are used to, the right is a special velocity color table that makes identifying the CAT level easier... greens are CAT1 winds, yellows CAT2, reds are CAT3, pinks are CAT4 and white/grays are CAT5 level winds. Also to note, these are wind speeds at the height of the radar and not ground level... for example, currently where the eye wall is located the radar beam is just under 6000' just to give you an idea... ground level is usually lower speeds at least some of the time...

At the Miami area... ground wind speeds are about 76 mph gusts ( actually a little north, Miami weather info at the airport is down right now ). The Hollywood site by Prembroke Pines is showing 66mph gusts. Fort Lauderdale airport is reporting up to 75mph gusts. Pompano Beach is showing 67 mph gusts. West Palm Beach is showing 66 mph gusts. The site closest to Moonie isn't reporting anything currently, likely power outage at that weather station. A site north of Moonie at Saint Lucie is reporting 59mph gusts.

:)

I meant re Jose making a loop and coming back to for Florida

Ah... that is interesting and probably too early for any accurate info expecially considering how fickle the tracts for Irma have been which is a much stronger system... still here is a screenshot that includes that tract as well.

BTW... concerning those weird sort of circular swaths of color on the velocity data... that is called range folding. It's where the data didn't return or didn't return in time to give valid data so it's data isn't shown and an alternate color is shown instead to depict it.
