While checking the radar estimated rain totals for central Texas ( KGRK ) this morning ... I just about freaked out. Apparently their computer has messed up ( since the other radar products look fine ) and is reporting much more estimated rain for the area that actually fell, more than double the actual amounts and some areas showing even more than that. Switching over to the San Antonio radar ( KEWX ) everything looked much more as I'd expected...
The area I was looking at is showing ( from San Antonio ) an approximate 4.8-5" which is still a lot... but the other radar site was estimating it to be in the 8"+ and some areas of over 20" which were obviously wrong thankfully.
Area's NE of Corpus Christie ... ie the Aransas Pass to Estes close by where Harvey made landfall are showing approx. 11-12". Areas north of that and NE of San Antonio by Grange Tx are showing 12-15" estimated in spots. Around Houston and Galveston are showing estimated amounts in the 11-25" amounts. There is an inflow band near Beaumont - Port Arthur are showing they have 8-12" showing as current estimates and will only increase as the storm drops more rain in the area.
