Got the new cordless mower I mentioned last week in and after my first mow with it... I'm really impressed with it's performance.

It's been two weeks since I last mowed because of rain over the last weekend. The backyard wasn't too overgrown with only 4"-6" clumps of mostly weeds ( henbit and some dandy lions, the grass hasn't really started growing good enough yet to choke out the weeds ). The front yard was a different story, it's mostly grass and some crab grass. It was also growing in large clumps instead of evenly with many in the 8"-10" range and having shoots reaching over 12"-14" in places.

Using the cordless mower on the front, it went through the heavy stuff without a hiccup, had it been my gas mower, I'd have had to restart it several times to get through it all. The only time I had to dance with it ( going forward and back over an area ) were when the taller shoots would get laid over instead of getting cut on the first pass.

Sound wise... I've had vacuum cleaners that were louder. I was even able to hold a conversation on my phone and the person on the other end said they didn't hear the mower at all. I wear a Plantronics BT headset, so I suspect it's noise canceling helped with the noise level a bit.

Pushing... it seemed to be less work than my self propelled gas mower which you'd still have to wrestle around corners, lift the front in dense grass etc. It probably helps that the cordless is only around 55 lbs ... I have no idea how much the gas mower weighs in at.

I was able to complete my small lawn, front and back on a single 4 ah battery. Had the lawn been kept up and not as tall as it was this time around, I suspect I'd have only used about 3/4's of the battery instead of the whole thing as I did this time. The mower also came with another 2 ah battery that I didn't need this round. They rate the two batteries as being able to handle a 1/4 acre lot... and I suspect that is pretty close to right as long as it's not as overgrown as mine was this time.

:)
