Well, we're finally getting info in now. Two deaths from the storms (both from trees on cars). Tens of thousands with no power. Huge damages, a lot in North Haven, Hamden (both adjoining mine), Wallingford, Bloomfield, etc. here's a couple representative shots. I feel extremely lucky.

I'm finally getting close to finishing up my detailed street maps for use with my radar program. I think when finished, I'll have about 50-60 hrs into it not including the time it took to learn how to do it. I've still got to finish off the last step of trimming back the radiused maps for 32 radar sites in 7 states. I've already completed 172 radar sites within 43 states, a couple in Puerto Rico as well as the Virgin Islands.

RD, I'm wonderin'. Have you been seeing a big upsurge in the "trojan.gen.npe.2" among your clients. I'm getting it 3 - 5 times daily. Norton always detects it and neutralizes and quarantines it. But man, it's getting to be a pain in the ..... Is this going on everywhere? Been about maybe 3 weeks now.

But man, it's getting to be a pain in the ..... Is this going on everywhere? Been about maybe 3 weeks now.

First just some info... that is Norton's name for the malware, other protection software will have their own name they use... there are no naming standards ( although attempts have been made, just never have happened )

Norton ( and McAfee ) aren't made to clean adware/spyware types of infections... download and run Malwarebytes Antimalware. Chances are it will take care of the problem ( nothing is perfect but MBAM comes close ).

If it works as I suspect... uninstall Norton and purchase MBAM instead... at least it will be money well spent. I believe you can use it for a 14 or 30 day trial before you decide. Amazon is the best place I've seen to purchase it... you get 1 year subscriptions for up to 3 computers for about the same price that MBAM is sold for on their own site for a single computer... around $40 last time I looked.

While I really dislike Norton and McAfee products ( costly, doesn't protect as well or better than others and then when they don't work they charge to help you clean what their product can't clean )... the problem is that Antivirus software's are made for adware/spyware detection and cleaning... they are more for typical viral infections which aren't as prevalent these days.

Very confusing on the differences between malware and virus. I read a bit on Malwarebytes tonight and will likely go that route tomorrow. Just gotta learn more first. I'm on auto-renewal for Norton, but they don't yet have my new CC info, so, might be a good time to switch anyway. I've really felt (and apparently been) secure with Norton for many years now, but you bring up some interesting points. Seems I may have been behind the times on what are the "real" threats. I appreciate your help (BTW, you can bill Aggie for it, she owes me from the truckstop days).

So, I think I may be going with it, thank you again.
