Hmmmm, now imagine if this were variable voltage!![]()
They only hold 1.6ml or so but they could probably be incorporated into a tank. I don't understand why they made the wicks so short cause you have to keep tipping them and swirling the juice around if it's not full.
I watched this video... Repairing atomizer CE4 LeakLess/ . They are easy to take apart and clean plus the video shows how to manufacture a long wick-very cool. I am thinking that some vendor (Eric?) is or will be selling wicks that you could just drop into these.
So I have been abusing I mean using my XL3 for about month now.
After so many trips to the concrete, asphalt, tile and other unforgiving surfaces on the construction site the paint has finally started to peel. Now that I got the paint to start peeling I relentlessly and nervously pick at the edges in my spare time. After 3 weeks I have about 1/6 of it peeled away. I can't wait to get all the paint off so it will be a silver and gold XL3, but I feel that using anything besides my finger nails and the dropping method would be cheating.
My most recent test of durability was when I dragged my tool bags past my XL3. My bags caught on my CE2 and bent it 90 deg to my XL3. It bent the metal rod inside of the CE2 also. This caused the base of the CE2 that screws into the 510 connector to be pushed down and sideways onto the positive terminal of the switch. When I put a new CE2 onto the XL3 it wouldn't make contact. I took a nail and tried to pull the connector back up but it went side ways and up. I repeated this process until it was centered again and way to high. When I screwed my CE2 back in it worked perfect. Although I am pretty sure I did damage to the seal in there.
So I got my first tank (Thanks Eric). I screwed it on my XL3 popped the top and filled. When I put the top back on, holding it upright like you are not supposed to, yes, it leaked into the abused 510 connector. When I noticed the leak I cleaned it out and figured that I finally killed it, but it fired right up. My second fill of the tank was not much better even though I thought I had it figured out for the second attempt and didn't bother to disconnect my XL3. It still works and fires like the day I bought it.
Has anyone actually been able to kill one of these?
*slowly raises hand*
...guilty!
Eric, talk to me about the differences between the Lavatube(full size) and the Vision TOX Variable Volt - Incremental. Are they functionally the same? If I had both in my hands would I see a difference other than logo? Are you ever going to carry the reg. Lavatube or is the Vision Tox basically it? Could I buy just a Vision Tox without the kit or even a battery unless you are selling the AW IMR batteries with it?
Urge
we knew that already, no need to tell us![]()
is this not true? I have read about problems with the button on LTs, has this been addressed and can you buy a replacement battery? What is the warranty on the Tox?This means with theVisionTox you can use both an 18650 battery or 18500 battery.
The difference is...
right now some of the TOX heads do not get to 6V, and some of the readings may not accurately reflect what you are getting (lower) but in usage I do not see any issues with it. but that will change when they come out with the new tops.
Other than that they function exactly the same with some minor annoyances on the either side.
The Tox has a clock that loses it's setting as soon as you take out the battery so you have to reset it. which is completely silly.
The Tox is about the same size as the minilava but also comes with an extension so you can use an 18490/18500 battery which makes it about 1 1/14 taller. The Tox has better button placement, near the top rather than on the side.
Between the two it's a matter of personal taste in my opinion.
also there is no logo on either one of them, at least not mine, I am not into logos.
The Tox, at this time, is not available outside of a kit from me and the way they are selling, they will not be something I purchase again unless somehow it gets requested.
I already carry the lava tube in it's mini form, and the standard length is coming this week in silver. I might carry the new chrome one if they can get their act together and ship when they say they will but I am guessing they are making these things as they get orders which puts every order out 30 days.. I am not interested in being a Chinese companies bank or bankroll so after the Silver that might be it for me on these.
I have my eye on a new one that is gorgeous and made of stainless but I have no specs nor do I know how it functions so that's a little while out.
For now, either is a "good buy" IMHO.
EDIT: Be wary of anyone selling a "Stainless" Lava, it is not stainless, it is copper painted chrome.
Eric, When do you expect the new tops? So, the Tox is smaller than a full size LT and takes a smaller battery? On the Tox page on your website it says... is this not true? I have read about problems with the button on LTs, has this been addressed and can you buy a replacement battery? What is the warranty on the Tox?

I understood there is a chrome and a stainless being made. The stainless I believe are a limited 500 unit production I believe for a particular supplier and cost 15.00 more.
Are the buttons on the Tox replaceable? Are they metal or plastic? Will you have them? What version of the Tox is the one you are carrying? You say you will have a LT in this week in silver, what does that mean, are we talking aluminum or what? Also, are there replacable buttons for the LT?

Don't know if it's true but that's what they say.Update: The stainless steel version of vtubes are not in stock yet (the new delivery date given by the factory is now 4/15, sorry for the delay). We are still taking pre-orders. This stainless steel is real (not coated or painted) for both the body and the end cap, however because of its extremely high production cost we have to limit its production quantity to about 500 units as of March 18th. So the stainless steel will be a limited edition! Please get one while you can! If you placed your order but can not wait, please contact us for a complete refund.
We will also release a Chrome version which is easier to manufacture and will look similar to the stainless steel version, but it will be made of copper and coated with chrome. We are planning to release a copper version as well because many customers requested it.
Maybe they are keeping it a secret and selling it to one of the "greek gods" website.. not sure but I doubt it.
Quote directly from LRider was "they are not stainless they are copper plated chrome"
so it's certainly possible that they aren't telling me the truth as I specifically asked about stainless, but that would be silly since they pester me every single day to buy more Lavas![]()
