You know what would be really helpful is to put links from your mods to the batteries that fit. This would help us know whch batteries to choose and I woulld think that it would also increase sales :) I think it would be a win win.:thumbs:

In Eric's defense I believe he pretty much does that the best he can with what he has. DV isn't Amazon or Wal-Mart. The Gripper VV was pretty vague as to what battery fit. The manual just mentions the #18650 when it says the name "18650 VV Gripper". The 18650 comes in quite a few different styles and sizes.ie: protected, unprotected, IMR, different mah, just like every other battery. This one was just a fluke. The Gripper was designed with one particular battery in mind and that was wrong on their part. He doesn't sell every battery so he really can't link to what he doesn't have.

I think, no I know, that our devious oriental friends are at it again.

The picture of the Label on the CGR18650CH that Eric has on his site is identical to the Batteries that I bought from Orbtronics back when those batteries were first introduced. This is including the smaller number MH12210 that is on the Battery.

There apprears to be a section added to Eric's Batteries on the left (bottom) end of the Battery that could be the protection circuit, and it appears to be about the 3.5 mm difference in size.

What is interesting is that the original CGR18650CH Battery is a LiMn2O4 [manganese based] Lithium Ion Battery (IMR) and due to the type materials used is considered one of the safest Lithium Ion Batteris available not requiring the protection circuit.

Myself, and several other people in this thread, recently obtained Panasonic CGR18650CH Batteries (both Flat and Nipple Top) through a COOP, and the Chinese Supplier stripped the original grey covers from the Batteries and applied a new cover with bigger contacts rendering the Batteries useless for many of the intended applications.

Eric does put the length of his batteries in the description, so we are able to determine if they will work in our applications. And after the experience in the COOP, it is fully understandable how Eric wound up with batteries not physically (size wise) the same as the original CGR18650CH.

Eric, I hope you can find a good source for Panasonic CGR18650CH Batteries that are form, fit, and function identical to the original one made by Panasonic.

Pan Batt.jpg Panasonic IMR CGR18650CH 2250mAh 3.7V only $8.95 Too bad he can't just ask another site where they get theirs. When I found mine I ordered more so I would have them. I like Eric's honesty when he gives advice on finding the right battery. If he had them he'd sell 'em.

Just got my 2nd plane, this one's CAMO!!! Stealthy on the ground, but in the sky:(,.........This new LARGE Apollo (Space Needle)tank is huge. On the new 900mah battery it really does look like a freakin rocket:ohmy:. These tanks are 10ml, HUGE! Gonna make my display case (WHEN I get one) look even cooler:2cool:. I use a different apparatus every day and it looks like I can make it almost 2 months now. Eric, tell your son not to forget to thank me when he graduates medical school.:toast: Money well spent.:vapor:

I wonder if Panasonic just fell to the pressure, and added a protection circuit. Strange thing is, I thought they always claimed protection on these batteries, but I could be wrong. My first look into these, could have been after the new batteries were introduced, and just not popular yet. I think I got mine about 8 weeks ago.

Great suggestion

However this would not have solved this kind of oddly surging question with the gripper in fact it might have made it worse initially. I did not know it didn't fit, did not get a chance to test it. Grippers came in, they went out, then I got the panasonics, then the grippers came in and went out (two left I think) Imagine if I had just assumed it fit because it was an 18650, I would have been in some serious trouble with that :(

But I do have the battery sizes the mods need listed in the description, just not linked to specific batts.

The reason I do not link batteries is two fold, first, it takes a lot of extra time. I realize many people think this is the easy part, but it's not. Second I run out of batteries a LOT, all the time in fact, I'd rather not have a link to the one battery I recommend for a mod for instance and then have it out of stock when someone clicks on it. In addition to that, if I do not link a battery I WILL get an email every single time someone is looking at the mod asking if "xxx" battery fits because "it's not listed". I don't mind emails obviously, but they pile up quickly.

99% of the time when I say an 18650 fits, ANY 18650 will fit. The gripper is an exception only because the Panasonic I purchased is an exception and the interest in the two (together) all of a sudden.
I think I am just going to pull that battery, it's size is causing way too much of an issue.

The "space needle"? Is this some other vendors pet name for the E2 Apollo Tank XL?

It was LD'S name for it

I think he is teasing and knows that vendors picked up the name from me. He just likes his better... which vendors picked up from him. So, from now on we are calling it the ".... probe" so no one will want it in their mouth! :D

Tully, how about you asking the vendor where you got the batteries where they get them from? All you have to say is that you have a friend that needs to buy them in bulk.

I have a lot of new products but today I just wanted to spotlight one:

Phoenix Rebuildable Atomizer - Clone

DiscountVapers_Pheonix_Clone__25916_zoom.jpg

DiscountVapers_Pheonix_Clone_3__42975_zoom.jpg

DiscountVapers_Pheonix_Clone_2__32831_zoom.jpg

Here is my description that I put on the website, sums it up nicely I think:

*******************

OK first.. the price I see these listed at elsewhere is quite a shock, there is simply no reason for this simple item to be this high. So this is a CLONE. It is not the genuine Pheonix. .That said, it doesn't matter, it's the same thing. Same materials, same design (except for a small upgrade) If you want to spend between 2.5 and 5 times what this costs for a name, that's OK :)

Virtually identical to the original Pheonix atomizer with one nice improvement, a tapered cone for the top making it look a lot better.
Functionally and structurally it is the same unit made from the same materials. .Please compare the pictures of this to the other pictures of the Phoenix. .Completely rebuildable with any wick or coil you choose.

If you want to try your hand at wick and wire, this is a good item for your collection, it's less expensive leaving you more $$ (the pheonix goes for $19-$39) for your wick and wire. Not generally for beginners unless you want to get your feet wet with an easily rebuilable atomizer. .Even if you don't this is a great item to have to test liquids or get the best vape possible, easy to clean the parts or remove them entirely.

Made with Stainless steel and plated Copper.
Can be disassembled and put back together.

14mm Overall Diameter
32mm Overall Length

Eric's Review:
.I am excited to carry this because of the cost, I get to save everyone a serious amount of money..Never thought I'd like something this but I do. .I test out a lot of flavors and I usually use a Vision atomizer to do it, just run under water, dry and go, but this opens up a lot of possibilities for me, now I can learn how to wick and test out my creations, I can order different coil different wick and wick types, whatever I come up with is easily attached between the two screws (you'll need an eyeglass screwdriver). .I've already tried a few variants. I even pulled out a wick from one of my universal heads and tried that and it worked. .I just had to remove it from the post. .So while there is no way this will become my everyday device it will take the place of my atomizers for testing, plus I get to have some fun experimenting.

Note: it has a hard time with drip tips, my gyroidal fits and so does the basic metal drip tip I have but the oring gets stuck, I pushed it down all the way and it sheard a bit off the oring and now it fits great, but it no longer fits my other stuff, oh well, so be it..Please be aware that all drip tips will not fit this item, but luckilly it comes with one :) . As always, if unsure, buy ONE, I do not accept multi quantity returns on new items. .Vaping gear is a risk... always. That said I can't see anyone interested in this type of item not liking this.

The price? 9 Bucks... and to be honest I feel even that's high but my kids keep asking me for food so.....

***************************

Ok so this is really my first foray into something like this so if I've got the wrong idea let me know, but to me, just from a tinkerers standpoint I am really digging this tiny thing.
