Need some help with my DV mini nova, please. The DV mini vivi nova was vaping like a beast with the original coil head. I loved it.
But, I finally changed the original coil head, replaced it with the DV mini nova head (the one that DV sells to go with the DV mini nova).
Now my mini nova isn't vaping like a champ anymore. The draw is tight, and the flavor of my juice is terrible . It is almost like
I am getting burnt hits with each vape. I can barely taste the juice. I just get a nasty taste.
The original head that came with my mini nova had short wicks, this replacement coil has the long wicks. The wicks feel like a different
fiber than the wicks of the original coil that came with my DV mini nova.
How can I fix this? thanks

All of the DV Novas I sell have long wicks? When did you buy yours from me?
Can you email me? we'll get it worked out, if I can see your order maybe I can figure it out and get it fixed.

CocoabellaRSD. This is just a thought, take the head off rinse under HOT water place it back on dry burn until coil is dry and looks clean ( about 5 cycles will do it ). Change your juice and try again sometimes these heads are oiled and will taste burnt on the first hit and will change the taste of your juice. Just my :2c:

Here's some tricks I've learned with replaceable heads, after I screw the head on, I pull the rubber top cap off the head and drip some juice directly on the coil and soak the rest of the wick before I fill the tank up. If I don't do that with a new head, then I get the nasty burnt taste you speak of.... Pre-priming is almost a must to avoid that. As for the draw, you might want to look at the bottom of the head and see if the air hole in the bottom of the new head is the same size as your old head. I've gotten heads from different places with different sized holes and used hex shanked drill bits, twisting it in my fingers, to make the hole larger and increase the air flow. I'm sure you guy's have the situation under control but I've had problems like this (FYI- not with Eric's stuff) so I figured I'd add what's worked for me.

I once got the most nasty taste from a brand new rebuildable atty! I thought I would never vape again! I just couldn't get that taste out of my mouth, nose and mind! Turns out, it was machine oil.... I didn't inhale it, but still... from a different vendor, also...
Soooooo, now I use hot water and then vodka, just in case.

I haven't had a lot of luck with dry burning though.... I suppose it would be worth a try if you are just going to toss the thing anyway. You would have nothing to lose. But, in the case of a brand new wick and coil, I can't see doing that as it is supposed to remove the gunk that has built up on the coil. You wouldn't have that problem as it is new. I would just give it a good bath and let it air dry for a while after gently wiping the wicks dry. Let us know and good luck!

I hope to try to re-wick these things myself. I have the wire and am still reading about different types of wicks.

Are you popping the coil or do you still get the burnt taste? A soak in lemon juice afterwards gets rid if the burnt taste.

I have only tried it on some old clearos. They seemed to flood afterwards. It seemed like I was burning the wick under the coil. They have been sitting, will have to revisit them! Thanks for the tip on the lemon juice!

Do you dry burn to get rid of the gunk on the coil? If so, is there any other way to do it?

Thanks!

Yes, I dry burn them. I got pretty good at dry burning. I started with an ego-T and did that with the T atty's all the time. That was way more complicated than these little heads but the method is the same. I believe the method I used was from a steeljan youtube video. Then I soak them in lemon juice. The acid bleaches the wick and gets rid of the burnt taste. It looks and works just as well as a new head when I'm done. The nice thing about these heads is the base is 510 threaded and they'll screw right on to a pv if the threads go to the end on the 510 connection.

I am not looking for you to replace the coil Eric.
I am just hoping for a suggestion to helping it vape better and work as great as the other coil that came with it.
thanks (*;*) These mini novas are sick! You can't put them down. lol I think they send out a spell with each one. hahaha

Thanks for your reply. I do pre prime the coil before vaping. I do that with my CE3's too.

Check the air tube and the holes are pretty lined up, though ever so-slightly off center.

Thx Snus. I am going to pull it apart and clean the wicks and dry burn it then let the wicks dry overnight.
Then refill it and see if it will help the vape.
I didn't see the need to dry burn it either since was a new coil.
I did pre-prime the coil with juice before filling it, but I didn't clean it before using it.
