I got fleeced for an extra 10 bucks on my second P3. Not on the next one!

What batteries is everyone using, or planning to use? Decision was easy before with the AW IMRs but now with the p3s ability to use flat top, I'm confused. VTC5's aren't available so what to get? Lots of conflicting information around the web and even on the site.

Could anyone help provide a clear answer, without speculation?

I started off using Xtar 2100mAh Flat Top batteries (which are VTC4's) with great success. Although these are quite long, too long for a couple of my mech mods, they're fine in the P3.

I have also been using the new AW IMR 18650 2200mAh 20A button top batteries and these also work flawlessly but are smaller than the Xtars mentioned above.

I know have some Sony VTC4's on the way and I'll give them a go too. It's interesting how the actual Sony VTC4's are shorter than their rebranded counterparts from Xtar. I'm not sure why this is.

Honestly, just stick with the AW's...they have a newer line coming out, with higher this and that...but the reason I say stick with them is...RELIABILITY. I mean, you've just spent over $200 to trust some (possibly) knock-off battery? People are out there, right now, re-wrapping lower grade batteries, to make them look like all these popular brands...that includes AW knock offs too. But at least with a real AW battery, there are some kind of anti-counterfeit measures taken. All you have to do is check them against the anti-counterfeit guidelines (stickers, printing on label, etc), or buy from a trusted source (i.e. Provape), and you're good.
Do you really want to trust some battery you bought off eBay, that may go into thermal runaway in your hand?
The safety features of the Provari (any generation) can only do so much. The final safety feature of ANY device is the end user.

Sorry...not trying to come down on you or anything...just a little ramped up from an earlier debate with someone who says eBay is "one of the most trusted places to buy batteries"......:shake my head:

This is just my two cents, my plan for batteries, and zero speculation.

AW 18490 for my P3. They worked great on my 2.5 and they work equally great on my P3. I figure if something's not broken, why fix it!

Thanks for the answers. I did see the new AW batteries and do plan to get them, as I am using the older versions in my p2.5 with no issues. Was wondering whether there was anything better since I read about them being eclipsed in every way(that was just speculation and banter probably).

God I love my husband! I forgot that he is on ProVape's mailing list (bought me my first ProVari for a Christmas present two years ago). I haven't said anything about them finally coming out with the release date. We were discussing a different purchase that we are making (elliptical walking thingy) and in passing he said the P3 was coming out Nov 17th. ROFLMAO I couldn't believe he knew!! Then it finally dawned on me, oh yeah, he was probably on the mailing list

I said even though we are getting the elliptical, I am still getting the P3. He said yeah I know. :D

It's a fight he knows he can't win. So he doesn't fight it. Might as well jump on board and get the brownie points. :)

Not that I have seen. Regardless, I still recommend you contact your accountant. :)

I have...

And my accountant has limited me to half of what I have spent on stinkies over the past 30 years.

P3, Out of my budget? I think not!!!

Great post. I say things about my wife, but she is thrilled I quit smoking. I smoked my entire adult life and she has never had a cigarette, even though her whole family smoked. Years ago I quit cold turkey and things got so bad around the house that she went out and bought me a carton of smokes. So she is ecstatic since I started vaping. A Provari 2.5 or P3 is really only the cost of a few cartons of smokes.

I'm happy for you Robin. Great husband.....
