So anything coil over 1.8 boost becomes useless? I then can't get above 10 watts of power.
No- not at all - it's more complicated than that- you can go to 20W with 1.8 ohms but depending on your gauge you won't notice much past around 18W. Tested that last week.

Why on earth would anyone need more then 20 watts?
because heat depends on the gauge of your wire and the current running through it. 32 ga will get much hotter at the same current than the same resistance (longer lenghth) of 26Ga.

Also, if you want a dual coil build, you need to heat up both coils- your power( actually current) is being split between two coils.... so if you want to run 6V across a pair of 1.8 ohm coils (effectively .9 ohms) you need 2x the current and 2x the power.

Not good or bad, just a fact of life- we have to live within 20W, 6V and 5.5A.

My preciousssss.. :)

As you can see, I have a Kayfun 3.1, with 1.4 ohms 28g coil, I fire it up at 7.0 watts BoosT 2 (I like a cool vape also) and at work I use the P3 cap and a 18350, at home I use the 2.5 extension cap with 18500... I just love it!

The BoosT error with more than X.XΩ appears to have come with version 36. All I've been able to test is 1.8 (good) and 2.2 (error). Robino1 has seen no error at 2.0.

Maybe I'll do some tests today on my dripper... (I did see the warning on my carto 3.1 last week...) I'll be able to test all types of resistances a Boosts levels (I have a Ver 35...)

Which would me to question if you have an issue with your P3 or with your topper?

I'm running a full size Beyond Vape a Silo and BVC coils on my P3. While the coils are rated at 1.8, they consistently read 2 ohm on my P2.5 and P3.

I think this is a "feature" of version 36. Another member here was actually the first to experience it before I did.

I've seen 1.8Ω and 2.5Ω clearomizer heads, as well as 2.0Ω (LR) cartos, actually 0.2Ω higher than rated.

Niiice!!! mine was from Thunderbay 2004... :)

32", 12 pounds even. Trolled him up with a Bomber Long A, middle of the day, bright and sunny. Caught one about 15 minutes before that which was nearly the same size. Figured I'd keep the second one and put him on my wall. :)

Alexandria Bay, Rainy Lake, Ontario. I've had crappie give me a better fight...no kidding! :)

If it's s version 36 thing, I'll stand pat on version 35!

so, I just did some tests with a dripper and a piece of 30 gauge attached so I can modify the resistance quickly... here is what I found:

2.19 is the highest resistance I could get ANY of the boost level at and not get the warning in question. and I also tested at many voltages from 2.9 to 6 volts and still the same. I only get the warning at 2.20 and above (independent of voltage or boost level selected)..

I'm running ver 35 on P3.

I mostly run my RBAs at 1.4 to 1.6, and my cartos (i have a bunch of Smok 3.1 Ohms that I don't run the boost on) but I hope this helps in your searching...

Cheers

Reg

edit: don't be stupid like me and forget to turn down the voltage from 6v before you re-attache your Kayfun... buueerrkkkkkk! it will be a while before I can get that awful taste out of my mouth!!!! :(

Yup, I have V36 and it's a borderline with the error. 2 ohm does work with boost, 2.1 will cause a boost error.
